Didn't he get fired right before Daniel Bryan caught fire? I think I remember thinking that if he had stuck around just a little longer he could have caught on big... Though I could just be making stuff up as time passes. Don't think he was fired. I always heard he asked for his release because he wasn't happy with his booking. There's conflicting stories. They said he asked for his release; he said later he was fired and let him give the other story because firing someone who just won a popularity contest looks bad. I think there's about a 50/50 chance he actually quit. Before the HHH era, they would give up on a little guy that early and they would hold it against him that he won NXT unexpectedly. But his reputation isn't great. Either way, it's such a shame, because he really COULD be a megastar main eventer in this era of the WWE.

They immediately followed up his NXT win with loses to Drew McIntyre and Chavo Guerrero. I would have asked for my release too.

Kaval had not one but two "Pros" in NXT, and at the time they were the hottest two women in the WWE hands down and the main event of the women's div. They were heels but oddly enough around Kaval they were faces who helped him win matches, and injected some severely-lacking charisma into his complete package as a WWE Superstar.
Why he quit the WWE I'll never understand, that is the kind of booking you kill someone to get in diz bidness.

That was so much fun. I remember when I heard that they would be his rookies, I thought it was a terrible idea. It ended up being the most I've ever enjoyed Kaval/Low Ki/Senshi.
