I am currently writing Christmas stories to email to friends on Christmas Eve while listening to Christmas instrumental music. It's oddly relaxing.

Well, I am debating on whether or not to put in for the assistant manager position at a movie theatre where I am currently employed. Been working there for nine years as an usher/cashier, however, given how the present crop of employees just make me shake my head with how lazy, entitled, and immature they are.

I still hate myself and still think I'm worthless...so in that regard nothing has changed.
I'm just sick of all the worrying/anxiety that I've had lately, in regards to my taste in music mainly, but also about other things, especially a few things that threads in this forum have reminded me of...not going into specifics, but I'm just sick of it.
I just want to enjoy Christmas...

I always imagined it to be a cliché that the years go quicker as you get older. Sadly, it's true. I'm 41 now, and yet I can still recall events from when I was 19 like they happened yesterday. As I type this, in seven days time it'll be Christmas Day, and yet it only seems like a month or two ago that we celebrated LAST Christmas. Time's marching on, man...and nobody's getting any younger. I'm nearing 30, but I still feel exactly the same as I have since I was 20. I feel better actually, but I imagine that's because I've lost a little bit of weight in the last couple years. I feel like I should be feeling worse or at least starting to feel old, but the only thing that makes me think about being old is my age. I'm the same, I feel fitter and in better shape than I did 20 years ago - it's just that the aging process means I'm more susceptible to aches and pains!

There's a mouse in my room getting it's cardio in and it's getting on my nerves. I'm going to set up a "finish line" for him.
Update: The dumbass was stuck in my trashcan and got thrown out like Jazz.

I'd encourage anyone to apply for a job, however the way you've described the employees makes it sound like it might not be a totally enjoyable experience. You could be right. When I first started working there the General Manager who was there at the time was strict, didn't sugarcoat her words, and ran the business so efficiently that the employees still worked like she was there even when she wasn't. Because of her willingness to fire anyone who didn't do the job, didn't show up for work, or she just didn't feel the need to keep them on the payroll, in the process, it weeded out a lot of the bad workers. The current General Manager isn't bad by any means. But he's hampered by policies from the corporate office that doesn't allow him to fire bad workers and constantly document them rather than disciplining them accordingly. Of course, it doesn't help that some of the current generation of workers feel entitled, are politically correct, and get their feelings hurt easily or complain if a manager makes them do a semblance of work. So while it might not be an enjoyable experience, there are times when I think about applying for the position, that way I can jumpstart the process of either helping make those lazy employees quit or actually have more say so when it comes to the business. On the other hand I really don't want the stress and don't feel like being the proverbial babysitter either.

I swear to you I've thought of making one of these threads for a long time now. Just never got around to it.
Ah well. It's nice to have this one around for general chat.

Hooray, I get to work sick again, and I get to work alone in my department, because they still don't know how to schedule properly.

Currently listening to the Charlie Brown Christmas record and dreading Christmas shopping later on tonight. Also a little bummed out that the Christmas season will be over in just a few short days. I am full of conflicting emotions, as you can clearly see.

You're looking at it from both perspectives which is good - it's a brave step to apply, and if you don't get the job then at least you applied. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Speaking of work, today was my last day until Wednesday 28th December. I'm having a lie in tomorrow, that's for certain.

Went into work while I'll today. Very much having a Young Ones, Vyvyan type moment where I feel like "Being I'll effects my normally tolerant and easygoing approach to this job" right before hurling a patrol bomb.

I had a sinus infection last week, and had another seizure last Thursday, hurting my shoulder again. I had some pain in it, at work today, and a customer's 3 year old daughter helped me bag the items, and put the light bags in the cart. She felt like she did something very important, and it still means a lot to me. This afternoon, I went to my aunt's house, and another one of my aunts came to visit. She told me she had to get something out of her car, and when she came back in, she handed me a Chip and Dale ornament. My cousin works for ESPN, and got free tickets to Disney world, so she took my aunt, as a mother/daughter vacation, and they thought of me, to bring that back. It meant so much to me, that I started crying.

Hooray, I get to work sick again, and I get to work alone in my department, because they still don't know how to schedule properly. On that note, I work 9-2 tomorrow, and I know there'll be people in my department there if I don't show up, so if I feel yucky tomorrow morning, I might just call out, start my Christmas vacation early.

Well, it looks like I'm getting a new job.
I work in sports media and I'm jumping from a Canadian company to the Canadian branch of an American one and I'm both nervous and excited.
I love my coworkers and I enjoy what I do, but I've been offered more responsibilities and more money. I checked back in with my current company and they're willing to match on money, but can't guarantee that my ambition will match my opportunities, so I told my boss that I intend to move on.
I haven't signed anything yet and I haven't given notice, but my mind is made up and I'm making the move.
As it stands, I'll be heading to LA for orientation at the end of January.
