Yesterday before work, I'm sitting down at the Everett marina, smoking a pipe and streaming some KNKX, the local public radio affiliate. Along comes two older ladies, and they stop as one of them remarks that her husband used to smoke a pipe, and I happened to be smoking the same brand.
We talk for a couple more minutes, and she thanks me for the memories the pipe invoked. Just a neat little moment, brought to you by smoking.

People who complain about others doing annoying things just to turn around and do it themselves are always hilarious.

Twitter's been over capacity since this morning on the search timeline.
What the hell?

Twitter's been over capacity since this morning on the search timeline. What the hell? Dumb question, what do you mean by 'it's over capacity'?

I’ve just added some pre-prepared frozen sauce to some frozen ribs. Both are defrosted, but is the sauce okay to eat?
I maybe should have checked before adding...

I just tried, and it's working ok for me. Are you on mobile? I tried now after several refreshes, and it worked, but no, the problem's on my desktop computer. Yeah, it worked fine earlier but I just tried to search for something and it gave me the "Something is technically wrong, thanks for noticing!" error, so it's not just you.

So, my new place of work is for real starting to suck. My assistant manager has an unexplainable disdain or hatred for me that I can't figure out. Is she just trying to be 'tough on me' because she's just tough on everyone? Or am I being singled out for some reason?
When we first talked about my hours of availability, I said I could work every day but Saturday. When she said why, I merely said I just couldn't work Saturdays. She saw through me and detected that I just didn't want to work Saturdays. Fair enough if that made her upset, but then she basically made me feel like some sort of shitty asshole for daring to request Saturdays off, as if I had some sort of pompous ego about myself that was 'too good to work on Saturdays.' (I should mention that for part-timers, hours of availability are optional/flexible, or at least they're supposed to be.)
The thing is, for every situation in life, there is a right way and a wrong way for someone to get their point across. She chose the bitch way.
Regardless, my request for being unavailable to work on Saturdays was approved and is in the books officially. Or at least I thought it was, because today they put my schedule up for 2 weeks from now, and they put me in to work on that Saturday, June 1. So... I don't know what my next 'move' is supposed to be right now. It's like playing some chess, and suddenly the opponent makes a move with a weird chess piece that looks like a middle finger. I'm totally caught off guard right now. Basically I can choose from:
1. Keeping my mouth shut completely and work on that Saturday as I regularly would. 2. Mention it to someone, pointing it out as an official scheduling error. 3. Quit. (Which I would do by basically just ghosting them. Disappearing, instead of yelling at anyone as the method of quitting.)
I'll likely do #1, because that's literally all I do at any of my jobs ever, just come to work whenever asked, work hard and keep my complaints shut. I don't want to do #2 because I might just get backlash from someone. So again, mouth shut.
But if the manager bitch decides to say something snide on that Saturday like "you came to work on a SATURDAY!?" then I might just blow my lid and curse her out right there and then. Because she angers me a great deal already.

Pets are so great and add so much to our lives that even though we know we're most likely going to outlive them and have to deal with their death, we repeatedly go through it over and over.
I lost my oldest gecko today, and even though I've known it's been coming for a while (he was getting older, eating less and being less active), and you may not get the same connection to them as to your standard fluffy pet, they do have their own quirks and personalities and it still sucks.

Every time one of my dogs dies I say I am never getting another. Then usually with in 4 years I got a new dog. Currently on dog number 3. Mostly cause the one before her lived almost 16 years.

When my best friend lost her previous cat at 15 she didn't consider getting another cat for a year. I ended up with her cat (Daphne, RIP at 17) and her sister (Ruby, 18). I don't know if I'd get another cat right away myself. I might since I don't have any roommates.
