Inane chatter from immature thirty somethings, an attention seeking dog and a partner who can’t seem to appreciate silence.
After a sluggish week at work, Friday night is off to a less than enthralling start.

My brother's birthday meal was money well spent. I tried mussels for the first time and I didn't know what the hell I was doing. They were tasty thought. My brother ordered short rib nacho's. They are the best kept secret of the place we went to. We both ordered breakfast burgers to eat later. Today I'm going to take naps and let the cold meds I bought do their thing.

Only about one to two days 'till I go to Helsinki's Hartwall Arena to see Five Finger Death Punch and Megadeath! Kind of anxious right now. I don't want anything to mess this trip, but I have the worst feeling about trains coming late and such even though I've hotels and everything else booked-in-advance. I haven't been there since I was 12 something in '05. Not sure if it's wise to watch McGregor vs. Cowboy live as it will affect drastically my bedtimes tomorrow...

Has anyone here shaved their head? If so when's the best time?

Okay, I've been very patient with the usual rush of new year gym goers, but it's now time for them to give up or get hurt, and leave the gym.

Played my iPod, while cleaning the house, the other day. I was able to get 4 bags out. Today, I didn't do as much, because my dad is home, and even with fractures in his back, he'd be telling me to not carry them out front.

Can someone suggest one or two channels which are similar to Matthew Santoro and Amazing Top 10? SSSniperwolf, I guess. I like to listen 'em when I try to take my daily nap. And good hosts are always a bonus. I used to love listen After Dark with Bryan Alvarez and Art Bell's stuff before he passed away (it's too bad I can't seem to find 'nuff material with perfect audio anymore, as I like to pick the shows that interest me the most) ... Science, weird facts and theories about history or future interest me the most right now. Survival stories (like Locked/Banged Up Abroad) are great. Of course you can't stay away from the nightmarish creepy stuff (most stuff I watch is like that), but those background musics in some videos are probably the worst thing ever when I try to sleep at the same time. I always start to check what's back my neck.

Just got back from a The Used concert and they were fxxxing incredible. As were the sold out audience of 30-somethings emo fans losing their entire minds all night long. <3

If it's okay I wanted to use this thread to vent about a situation I am in at my job.
There's a lot to cover with this post. I'll do my best to cover as much ground as I can without it being long winded.
At my current job as an usher/cashier at a movie theatre I've been there for twelve years. I've worked five general managers, every single assistant manager, and every single employee. I've been a loyal employee for those twelve years even while attending college. The last three-four years has seen me apply for the assistant manager position three times. The first and second attempt I never received an interview, was told by our current GM that was too unprofessional, unpredictable, and that I needed to show that I deserved the position.
Okay, fair point. I recognized that maybe my dry sense of humor could rub people the wrong way. Despite that though, I've developed great relationships with past and even current co-workers. They enjoy my company and likewise for me with them too. Third time comes around I have an interview with the GM for the position and was overlooked again.
Eventually he promoted a nineteen year old who ended up leaving for the Army and was gone for six months. She doesn't make it through Basic Training and is just handed the position when employees like myself and another who applied for the position, remained loyal, worked immensely hard, as well as never calling out nor asking for time off, staying over when business was insanely busy, and for him to deceptively sneaky fashion do what he did made it a tough pill for me to swallow given my time at the job.
I've confronted our manager about this twice and was met with the same rhetorical political correct answer. I will fully admit that I haven't been perfect, I've made mistakes, and yet I am told that in order to be promoted I have to be "perfect". He gave me an answer in how because of my documentation from the second general manager who absolutely hated my very existence determined my ineligibility of being promoted. Those documentations were from five to six years ago and I found it highly unusual that they're being held against me.
After twelve years I feel I've earned and deserve the spot based off of my time there. I don't call out, I rarely ask for time off, I've come to work sick, sore, in bad moods, and worked my ass off to the bone and have been met with empty promises, lies, disrespect, and I am sick of it. Needless to say I began amping up my job search and have decided that when a better opportunity opens up for me I will be gone.
Quite honestly I think his issue with me is personal. That's the only conclusion that I can come up with as to why he is against me being promoted. Either way I've eerily come to accept it after my anger, disgust, and hatred of the situation came to an ugly head last night while I was sitting in my car attempting to clear my head. All I know is karma never forgets.

How does one earn a place in a community that they feel just plain doesn't want to allow them in?

How does one earn a place in a community that they feel just plain doesn't want to allow them in? That depends on what type of community it is, for starters.
