I've always wondered that. Is there a copyright claim, or they didn't want to show "wrestling" mentioned in their programming?

I believe another promoter copyrighted "Superstars Of Wrestling" back in the 90's, which is why the name of the show was changed to simply "Superstars" to begin with.

I don't believe that was the original reason for the title change, but after the name change they accidentally let the copyright lapse and another promoter copyrighted it and tried to hold WWE over a barrel for it, so WWE just blurred it instead of paying the person.

Trademark, not copyright, but yeah, that's right. They let it lapse and someone else snagged it.

I have seen some clips where the banner isnt blurred, so either somebody forgot or they got the rights back.

speaking of superstars, why aren't their early episodes on the Network? It was the flagship show for a while. Imo it's even debatable that it was still the flagship show even when RAW came along until about 96

Superstars and Challenge need to be on the Network. Or at least more Prime Time Wrestling. There's no week-to-week programming from 1987 through Raw's debut in 1993 on the Network, and that's my favorite era.

I sense once Smackdown gets completed, you'll get Prime Time.

Most of the good stuff was reshown on Primetime Wrestling anyway. I do think they should have a few on there, but not many.

Trademark, not copyright, but yeah, that's right. They let it lapse and someone else snagged it. That is fascinating. It'd be like if RAW or Smackdown's trademark lapsed without their knowledge and some midwest indie snagged it on a whim. Not something you'd see in today's WWE.

I'll be cool with the rest of the Prime Time shows from 1987-1992 getting uploaded without Superstars or Challenge. Most of the best stuff from the syndicated shows was shown on Prime Time, with the squash matches being replaced with competitive matches from house shows.

And yet, there's a NJ indy headed by Bad Wrestlers Exposed foe Rob Fury that changed its name to Superstars of Wrestling as well. Go figure!

Supposedly, the older stuff is being put on hold intentionally due to the Hogan embargo. : (

WWE are really cheap when it comes to these. They will let classic titles like this, and oh the name of their company go if lose the rights to it.
Didn't WWE, WCW or Hulk Hogan himself temporary lose the rights from Marvel to use the name Hulk? So it was just Hogan, or Hollywood Hogan until they got it back?

The real reason is that there was a secret penis hidden in the logo for Superstars of Wrestling. If you don't know about it you can't even tell but once you see it, you can never unsee it.
