Paradoxically, the only way WWE talent relations could kill the independent scene overnight is not by WWE BINGING on independent standouts, but rather by WWE PURGING on indy standouts. I'm not sure I agree. A lot of those wrestlers would probably spend a lot of their time wrestling in those "As Seen on TV" promotions and those generally aren't the companies where a lot of up and comers are cutting their teeth. If ROH truly is series about building a women's division, then all those women becoming available would actually be quite helpful for that. When a company brings in Zack Ryder they're bringing him in because they want someone who was on TV, they're not choosing between him and someone with just indy buzz. If it wasn't Ryder they'd be bringing in Carlito or John Morrison or Shelton Benjamin or someone else like that. Hell, those might be the types hurt most by a purge since all of a sudden there'd be a bunch of wrestlers available they have been on tv more recently than them. I know a lot of ex-WWE guys have said demand really drops off after 6-12 months so maybe something like that would stunt the growth of some up and coming indy guys for a little bit but overall I think the scene would be fine. It's a pretty big scene, after all. It can seem small but that's because even most hardcore fans only pay attention to a relatively small number of companies.

They always bounce back. Just like in other sports. You lose one top name, others are more than willing to step up and take their place. Golf went through a slow burn when Tiger went downhill. Now, anybody can be a superstar. It's wide open.
We have a local indy that makes money when Abyss makes two appearances a year. Sign some autographs at a comic book store, name-drop your show specifics, take some pictures. Fans pay a few bucks to come and see you and they see the others basically for free. And, they may see a kid with skills in the 3rd match and that guy will be on their mind. "Hey, so and so was pretty awesome! Where else does he wrestle?"
You don't need to overload with name talent to succeed. Give them a chance, that's all some guys want.

So with this in mind then, who are some educated guesses to look out for when it comes to filling out those potential spots in the next 3-5 years? Danny Havoc, Joey Janela, Shane Strickland, Facade, Xavier Desmond CZW is loaded with some really good young talent right now, one of the best rosters they have ever had.

All the indies gotta do is start looking in areas of the States that get pretty much ignored. Like how you rarely hear about indie wrestling from the LA/MS/AL area. When all three states got piles of great talent.
Look at a guy like Keith Lee,dude has been around for a decent amount of time now. But really didn't start getting attention outside of the TX/LA area until this year. Same with Shane Taylor.
Then you got guys that are really good but it seems like they will never get the proper attention they deserve. Like Steve Anthony. I figured when he beat Liger for the NWA World Jr weight title he would finally get the attention he deserves. But for some reason that didn't happen. Then there are guys like Lukas Frost,Joe Kane,Purple Haze,Gregory James and many others. Some of them have been wrestling for over 10 years, but outside of the deep south they are unknown. Others I mentioned are a bit newer but are damn good talents.
Kind of surprised ROH hasn't started grabbing more of the deep south talent.I know that one guy from the MS indy scene is getting a ROH tryout soon. But there is many more that would be great in ROH,Evolve,PWG,etc.

It seems Texas has been notoriously hard to break out of since the USWA/Global era, with a small window later during which a group of HBK trainees made it out, and little else between or after. There have been plenty of promotions and talented rosters here since the 2000s and no one ever makes it out. Okay, well Shadow (Vance Archer) did for a bit, but he wasn't really indicative of the talent climate he had come from. Hell, the current NWA champ is a longtime Texas worker and even less people know who he is than who the fake Muta was that was champ a few turns ago.

But he also works the TX/LA/MS circuit often. And fake Muta is now the AIWF World champ. Does seem thanks to Ray Rowe and ACH more and more people from the TX scene are getting noticed. But yeah you are right TX is a hard state to break out of. I know of at least 10 or more current TX based guys that should be in ROH/LU/Japan/TNA/WWE right now.

At the last moment an alternate universe will give the indies a new set.

if you think indies are in trouble and can't create new stars when the current crop go to WWE, you must not have a history of paying attention to indy wrestling at all.
