I hate Christmas so much. Whatever happy feeling it is supposed to give people it gives me the opposite. I dread it, I hate the decorations, I hate that people spend so much money on gifts, and I hate that people spend such a big chunk of the year worrying about making everything perfect for one day. I can't wait until the new year when all this shit is over with.

I love Christmas but not this year. Just not feeling it. I'm only interested because of my 5 year old, I want her to be able to enjoy it. The older two were uber-Grinches and are only receiving one gift each.

I love Christmas but I turn into a huge scrooge about the gift exchange with my parents and brothers. Everybody in the family is well off and if they wanted something they would already have it. Yet my mother insists on having gift exchanges. More than half the gifts get a completely fake "Oh thanks, i needed that".
For a couple years we were able to convince her to just have everybody give to a charity and bring something fun to eat or drink... but now it's all about stupid presents again. I strongly dislike it.
if you decide to just buy somebody a bottle of nice wine/liquor she complains that we make the family look like alcoholics. It's minor I know, but the whole gift exchange is horrible.
Now with my wife's family it's totally different. Kids that appreciate everything, a couple older cheapasses who are easy to shop for because they never spend a dime on themselves. That's easy. That's fun. You see eyes light up with excitement. I could do that all day.
My side of the family? The exchange is a really dry, boring sitcom.

I know this girl Kate....she thinks it makes her sound like a leper, unlike if you say you don't like Washington's Birthday or Thanksgiving.

I admit the magic of Christmas for me has faded over the years.
But I have no beef with anybody that still enjoys it, in fact I say fair play to them.

I have no beef with people liking it, and that's not really what I mean this thread to be about. In fact, I wish it did make me happy like it does most people, it just doesn't.

I don't dislike it, but I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be. Nowadays it just seems like another day with some extra stuff to it.

My workload doubles, so I don't really have a chance to enjoy it.
Not a fan.

Christmas itself I'm fine with. My big beef is with the forced family time, similar with Thanksgiving. It's so sad to hear my friends and coworkers complain about being tired, swamped, broke, etc, yet feeling compelled to have to show up and mingle "or else Uncle Joe is going to make a scene" and have the perfect gift "I hope he likes, or maybe Dad will just throw it back in my face" (actual quotes).

I enjoy giving gifts, and seeing my 2 year old niece get so excited, I can't help but feel happy

I'm not a scrooge, persay, but I do tend to get somewhat flat around this time of year.
See, it's like my folks divorced a long time ago and I see people and their happy kids and all that it just sort of makes me think of the beforetimes.
But that's just my deal. I do still mark for those very kids being all juiced up about it.
From a consumer standpoint though, I utterly despise it. It is just a soulless cashgrab made possible by emotionally manipulating people who are all to eager to run around all panic-stricken to go get whatever the new "thing" is.

Not a Scrooge, but unfortunately it's only been an inconvenience the past few years. I used to love this shit.

As a cynical atheist I should really hate Christmas, but I love it. We get days off from work, get to give and receive cool gifts and people tend to be nicer and warmer to each other.

Not a Scrooge but I'm burnt out on it. For years I would tie myself into a know trying to find the perfect gift for my family, something they would need, want, love, the right size, the right colour, the right thing... and on Christmas it would be "Thanks, NEXT!" Last year I gave up and just gave people gift cards from WalMart and no one noticed. Doing the same this year.
I prefer giving gifts to my friends.
