Yeah it is similar because the WWE wasted Sean O'Haire just like they wasted Wade Barrett. I really hope BNB goes to Lucha Underground. He will have a level of creative freedom and it will allow him to do more acting and I think he could thrive in that company like other former WWE wrestlers like Del Rio, Morrison, Mysterio, 'Zeke Jackson and Justin Gabriel not to mention the people on Tough Enough they didn't pick up like Ivelisse, Son of Havok and Marty the Moth Martinez. The , it seems people love to work at LU , it seems when asked to get a NXT/developmental contract , they chose to stay mainly because how much fun they have at LU.

People keep saying that O'Haire's Devil's Advocate gimmick could had worked. Problem with that is Sean couldn't cut live promos and had to get drunk just to do pretapes. And the ability to do live promos is something that is required in wrestling but is a dying artform in modern wrestling because workrate is king.
If Barrett truly lost his passion for wrestling, a change of scenery won't restore that. He may get the bug again. He may never step into a ring again. But good for him knowing it is time to move on and having a backup plan. Way too much in wrestling we see those physically and mentally broke down trying to work something that they hate.

Barrett, I do think they could have done more with, but I think Sean topped out his potential. The guy was way too much of a loose cannon and got into fistfights at the drop of a hat. He seemed like a guy with poor impulse control. I don't think WWE could have sustained any push for him under those circumstances, not when he could get slammed with a lawsuit or jailtime, derailing any time and money pumped into him.

Barrett's situation reminds me of Sean O'Haire. People will spend the next few years saying "Boy, did WWE screw that up. Booooooo!" without mentioning how average/bad he was in-ring. Except O'Haire was ass in every possible aspect, save for the taped Devils advocate vignettes.

He was sloppy in the ring, looked disoriented most of the time and live promo wise, makes Charlotte Flair look like Ric Flair. IMO, he was trash

I can't blame him. After a while WWE's shit would just wear you down.

IMO, he was trash O'Haire had some fairly neat moves he could do (aside from the Senton Bomb, he also had some pretty impressive looking spin kick variations during his time in WCW), but he didn't really have anything to tie it all together cohesively. I don't think he was necessarily ass, but I think he pretty much needed to be stuck as a tag team guy in order to not have his weaknesses (more or less the same weaknesses one Roman Reigns shows on a nightly basis) exposed too much.

He was a powerplant guy, like Goldberg he was a fantastic athlete but a pretty crappy wrestler as they didn't really teach guys how to string together moves and spots in order to make a compelling match. Big Show had to be retrained entirely when he hit the WWE because what he'd been taught was severely lacking. Reigns is in the same boat as the WWE developmental system taught him and others to wrestle the same style match and since he got a big push off the bat which will continue no matter what the audience think, there's no incentive to improve.

as if to say that you should only try to get yourself over when we tell you to. Why are people still saying this like it's something new? It's been a policy for at least 10 years - just ask Ryder and Armando Estrada.

This is another reason why WWE Then, Now, Forever, eff you!
For every one thing WWE does right and gives you, there are at least 20 dismal turds like this example that people just continue to shrug off.

He comes across sooooo much better than Ryback when taking about similar gripes. One of these men is smart. The other goes to Panera and freaks out at not finding anything he can eat, because he doesn't know how to read a menu.
