Are the questions on that show always that painfully easy? Nah, it's just a novelty Celebrity edition for charity, for Christmas. The regular folks version, especially a few years back, was considered to be a super-hard quiz. Being Mastermind champion conferred (very) minor celebrity status on a few folks.

Are the questions on that show always that painfully easy? No. Usually they are much more obscure even for the specialist.

Mastermind's great. It's based on Nazi interrogation tactics, btw - the chap who came up with it suffered them as a POW during WW2 and later thought "this'd make a great quiz show". Specialist subjects vary, if you know about the subject they seem fairly easy, but often folk wilt under the studio lights. Then there's some folk - chap years ago, his specialist subject was something like Fingerprint Technique Case Studies 1900-45, I'd never even heard of half the words in the questions let alone the topics, and he got 14 correct! I'd just go for Doctor Who myself...
Besides, the best quiz shows are the ones you can play along at home and yell out "It was Churchill, you idiot!" at the TV screen, imho...

I don't think I even need to bother with the answers. This is like the Simpsons playing Grade School Challenge but you just want to say Hitler, North Dakota just to be an ass. SUMMERFEST!

I'll be honest, I got cocky and called Hawk and Animal The Road Warriors.
Never thought I'd see the day when Jeff Jarrett got a shout-out on the BBC.

Gotta say, I prefer when random WWE questions come up in Pointless, there, it's not just the challenge of knowing it, but second guessing what other people don't.

I could see myself going into autopilot and saying 'Road Warriors' instead of LOD for the last question.

They should have done a pro-wrestling version of the Two Ronnies Mastermind sketch

My parents have a friend who was on Mastermind. Apparently for the specialist subject round you have to give them 5 or 6 topics and they choose one for you. Not sure how much in advance you're warned which ones you get. Be difficult to think of a few subjects id be totally expert in. Suddenly it all makes more sense. The main reason I don't particularly like the show is that I always thought it was unfair that one person would get a broad subject while others would get a more focused one. It's like when somebody explained to me that not saying "pass" wasn't the foolproof plan I thought it was as they waste time telling you the answer.

They should have done a pro-wrestling version of the Two Ronnies Mastermind sketch Actually (don't mind if I talk to myself a bit here), just came up with something there Q: What was Rick Rude famous for? A: HE'S FAT Q: What did Scott Steiner say in regards to Samoa Joe during a Main Event Mafia interview held in TNA? A: He is an alpha male narcissist with a perverse eye for women Q: Who became the CEO of WWF operations after Linda Mcmahon temporarily resigned in 1999? A: Someone an apathetic or indifferent crowd wants to see the back end of Q: Describe the kind of person associated with X-Pac Heat A: Stone Cold Steve Austin

The list is ordered by preference, at least it was according to Magnus Magnusson. The other options are in case the persons top choice is ultra-niche, for example, the events of the Frasier episode Ham Radio.

I could see myself going into autopilot and saying 'Road Warriors' instead of LOD for the last question. That's what you get for not realizing it was WWF and not all of wrestling Though as someone growing up a WWF fan I'd almost automatically say Legion of Doom when Hawk and Animal are mentioned.
