I actually don't think it would be the worst thing ever, since the Miz is actually over as a heel, unlike most of the top heels that get a mixed reaction. But as others have said, I think he fits better as the IC champ.

Win the title? No. Contend for the title in a few PPV main event matches? Yes. Bingo, Miz is right where he belongs, upper card veteran you can credibly give an occasional main event/WWE title shot to.

Absolutely. He was nowhere near ready in 2010/11, and his work was incredibly mediocre. Miz with his current persona and match quality though? I definitely want that guy as a top heel. I think RAW would be way better off with Miz as Universal Champ than Owens, if I'm being completely honest.

Much as I don't want Miz mired in the black hole of suck that is Raw, he's a perfect fit for the kind of role they're trying to shoehorn Owens into. Hell, he might even be able to get Reigns some babyface heat.

I like Miz a lot but no. Not everyone should be world champion he's perfectly fine being the top midcard heel. This obsession with giving everyone a run with the belt is 1 of the reasons it doesn't mean anything anymore. I couldn't agree more. It gets a good amount of complaints but I absolutely love the fact that only 4 different guys have been heavyweight champion in New Japan in the last 6 years (Tanahashi, Okada, Styles and Naito). It just means so much more when someone else breaks through and wins the title. To compare, 14 different guys (Cena, Punk, Mysterio, Del Rio, The Rock, Bryan, Orton, Lesnar, Rollins, Reigns, Sheamus, Triple H, Ambrose and Styles) have won the WWE title in that time frame.

Ever since the brand split, Miz has become of the best parts of Smackdown by far. He's made the Intercontinental Championship more important than it's been in years, his wrestling has improved, and he's easily the best promo in the company. I thought he was pretty good back when had his first reign 5-6 years ago, but he's become a juggernaut since. I think Miz deserves to be WWE champ sometime next year. If Miz doesn't get at least a 4 month world championship run in 2017 there is no justice in this world.

Why an Earth not?
He's pretty much the best in every category you could rank wrestlers.
As much as I like guys like Kevin Ownens, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins the Miz is far ready for a world title run than they are right now.

If Miz can keep this hot streak going heading into April/May (since there's no way he'd get the belt before Mania), he'll more than have earned a run.

If he continues to improve like he has recently, sure. He's next in line behind Styles to be the top male Smackdown heel- on Raw he'll get lost.

I just had a bunch of scary WCW 2000 flashbacks. As short as some modern WWE reigns are, that for me is still the most telling example of hot potatoing a title too much.

He deserves it because he's probably the best overall heel in the WWE. AJ Styles is the best thing in the WWE right now but I argue The Miz is a better at being a heel than AJ Styles. He deserves it because The Miz is one of the best mic workers in the WWE, is amazing at getting people over, been involved in the some of the best feuds this year, and been on some of the best matches this year. He was the first guy to create major buzz for Talking Smack that made it Must See TV. He deserves it for making people care about the IC Title again. He is the most improved wrestler to the point he's actually one of the better workers in the WWE. Dude had a phenomenal year that would of casted a major shadow over everybody else if it wasn't for AJ Styles having one of the best single years ever. Kind of like how Jagr is second in all time in NHL Points and yet Wayne Gretzky nearly has 1000 more points than the second guy who would still have more points than anyone in else in NHL history if he never scored a goal. That's how good The Miz's year was. So not only he deserves it, he's more qualified then almost everyone else.

Part of AJ's success has to be credited to Miz because he was the initial feud that allowed AJ to introduce himself to fans that were umfamilar with him. Miz called AJ redneck rookie which allowed AJ to retort that he was a redneck but not a rookie and boom instant world champion material. Thanks Miz.

His run with the IC title has been better than the last 10 heels to be world champion.

That's a new champion just over every five months. With the amount of TV WWE runs anything longer than five months tends to get stale. Pretty much every long reign in recent memory (Punk, AJ, Nikki, New Day) has been months past the sell by date by the time they ended.

I hated his first run and I pretty much hated most of his entire run but he has been killing it this year. He deserves another shot.
