welp since EMPIRE was my first taste of star wars, there's ONLY ONE quote needed ..... YOU TRULY BELONG HERE WITH US AMONG THE CLOUDS looooooooooooooooooooooooooooved loved loved princess leia organa and was genuinely pleased when she appeared in THE FORCE AWAKENS, and will every time i see her coming out the ship, and that goodbye with han ..... gonna be some extra dust in the room next time i watch that ..... and of course the character herself, so strong and stoic, could have punched a bantha and laughed after it ..... and so young at the start, thrust into mega stardom, that never is easy with the best of people! and then there was THAT COSTUME, but even that didn't deter ..... to a "certain point of view" of course never saw postcards from the edge, but knew it was based on her life god knows how everyone will be like at episode VIII r.i.p. carrie fisher who gave us a hugely strong character and life with no compromises and a young beauty that does belong among the clouds and nerf hearders around the world will bow their heads ..... her disney infinity figure is now in front of me on my computer desk, and WILL CONTINUE to inspire my writing of DISNEY KINGDOMS .....

Wow. The first of the "Big 3" of Star Wars to go. And there was so much to her than just Princess Leia. So sad.

We have just lost a true trailblazer, someone who in their first major role flipped the entire concept of "damzel in distress" on its head to produce one of cinema's coolest badasses.
The world just got a little bit darker, but your iconic characters message of hope will burn bright forever.
Rest in peace Princess, you are one with the force now, and may the force be with us.

Now that I'm slighty more composed.
I had to go and take an anxiety pill before I could even calm down enough to write something coherent.
She was my f***ing hero. Not just for Leia though God knows that was a huge part of it. Her battle with mental illness and her courage to be so open about her struggles helped save my damn life. Like her I have bipolar disorder and depression. To know that someone that I'd adored and idolized for as long as I remember had the same problems as me was an encouragement that I could survive and thrive.
She was the original Self-Rescuing Princess.

With the new Trilogy we have already lost Han, now it looks like Leia will most likely be written off (And I hope it's an end fitting her character, don't want her to go the way Padme did).
I know this may sound my personal feelings. But I hope the Luke character survives the whole trilogy now. Unless they find a decent way for Leia to live without "Oh, she decided she is sick of this war and is hiding out until this whole thing blows over".
She is a great loss. Carrie Fisher was perfect casting in the role. Heard they turned down Jodie Foster and Sissy Spacek (huh another Carrie) for the role. Good choice. She will be missed.

She's never even watched Star Wars but she was crying when she told me she passed.

So much on my mind, and now I can finally let it all out. Please forgive me if I am long winded. It's really the story of two women on one day.
"The Force is strong in my family... my father has it... I have it... and my sister has it."
I don't talk much about my sister. I'm just not one to discuss her that much, mostly due to distance, but I love her dearly. When I was a kid growing up, my favorite movie was, and still is, Star Wars. Me being a kid, I thought I could be both Luke and Han, the bright eyed optimistic hero and the quick witted rogue. That meant my sister had to be the princess. She was beautiful, smart, strong in her own way.
And the only girl I really knew. Convenient.
When we were kids, she always indulged me a bit, willing to play the Leia role. As we got older, as much as I did with Leia, I saw more than the princess. A quiet inner strength that kept her going. And I believed then as I do now she was honestly the better of the pair of us - smarter, braver, stronger. Someone who I could look up to as well as see equally.
We unfortunately don't talk much these days. Distance, time, circumstances just keep us a bit separated. But she knows that I love her and I'd do just about anything for her, not just because she's my sister, but she is my better half.
Which brings us to today. She has been called on to be strong again. Our father is battling cancer that has already cost him a kidney and he had surgery again today to remove tumors. Aggressive chemo starts right away. And while I pray for her and him and miss her, somehow, I know she's going to be OK. Because of who she is, how she still makes her brother proud and, as the princess who once taught me to view even a sister as an equal and as a strong woman ascends to the clouds, I know she will do well. Even in my shattered tears over the loss of a childhood icon, she is not gone really. I will see her in my sister's eyes, her faith and her courage.
She is Leia. And to quote Luke, 'Leia is my sister.'

It's really hard for me to talk about celebrity deaths or death in general. I don't really know what to say or how to express my emotions sometimes. I didn't know these people personally but a lot of them meant something to me and this makes me really sad. This year has taken a Goblin King, a Prince and now a Princess.
From Mark Hamill's Facebook:
"It's never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all- whether she liked it or not. She was OUR Princess, damn it, & the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent & ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined & tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her & want her to succeed & be happy. She played such a crucial role in my professional & personal life, & both would have been far emptier without her. I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness & even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks Carrie. I love you, MH"

We've lost a lot of people this year, but this one hit me right in the feels. When several days passed without any news I took it as a "no news is good news" kinda deal, and Carrie would continue to be her witty, whip-smart self for years to come. Anybody who hasn't already, read any of her books. She'll always be known as Princess Leia, but she was so much more than that one role.

If you want to read a good Leia centric novel. I recommend the Claudia Grey book 'Bloodlines' (I think there is another SW with that name so note the author). It's set about half way between the events Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens. Lot of political stuff as Leia is a senator trying form a stable system in the post empire galaxy. But there is an espionage element. Plus it plants the seeds for the origin of the First Order.

Absolutely terrible. Her scenes in ESB were some of my favorite parts of the movie, mostly because she could easily hold her own and didn't take any BS from anyone, notably Han. I know her scenes in episode VIII have already been filmed, but episode IX just won't feel right without her.
RIP
