There's a series of DVDs released in the early 2000s called Classic Superstars of Wrestling. It showcases early matches of some of wrestling's big stars. Matches come from GWF, IWCCW, and USWA Dallas. I have the Booker T DVD and have seen the Steve Austin and Cactus Jack DVDs online.
"Classic Superstars of Wrestling is on the air!" was how the announcer would intro each DVD, I believe - Madison

I clicked on this thread thinking WWE had uploaded classic SOW episodes to the Network.

I clicked on this thread thinking WWE had uploaded classic SOW episodes to the Network. So did I, misleading title.

I have a bunch of these in my collection.I remember in 99 or so these aired on 1 of my local channels and they were pushed as an hour of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin or Undertaker or Mankind hoping to cash in on the ratings bonanza that was pro wrestling and then giving you old footage of them in completely different characters.

It's been a while since I watched my copies, but I believe the thread title refers to how the announcer opened up each collection. But yeah, slightly misleading title.

They showed those where I live too. I think it might have been the same public access channel that showed ECW and USWA. I remember them saying that it was gonna be Stone Cold vs The Undertaker, and then when they came back from commercial it was Stunning Steve Ausitin vs Mean Mark at some small show from like 10 years earlier. I was both disappointed and fascinated, because I had only been a wrestling fan since like 1996 and didn't have the Internet. Long haired Steve Austin was weird to see for the first time.

They play a show like that in The Fight Network (which I'm able to see on a free preview on cable now). It's classic footage from WCCW and others. It's interesting but it's pretty much just TV squash matches.
