I much prefer the idea of Anakin joining Palpatine after basically being fed up with the Jedi order and how ineffectual and political they've become and thinking "F*** it, what do I have to lose?" before realizing, too late, that the answer to that question is "Everything."
Giving credence to Yoda's statement about the dark side of the force being the easier and quicker route.

Well, and that was one of the few things I really liked from the prequels. I liked that the Jedi were the cause of their own downfall. They got too caught up in prophecies, politics, and other trivial things instead of doing what they're supposed to do and that's teaching and following the "Living Force" and all that entails.

I always just figured she was Watto's maid and she was treated more like a paid servant than a "work harder or I kill you" slave. I got the impression slaves had enough value in the SW Universe that most non-Uber Rich people wouldn't want to damage their investments. Watto also didn't really appear to be mean. He seemed to actually give a shit... mostly. *shrug* Well, the slaves do have explosives implanted into their bodies in order to keep them under control (I believe one of the deleted scenes in Phantom Menace involves the deactivation of Anakin's) so it's not quite as benevolent as it seems.

About the immaculate conception: In Episode 3 Palpatine says that midiclorians can be manipulated to create life. I always took that to mean that Palpatine created Anakin. One of the few subtle things in a trilogy that needs to bash you over the head with most stuff. in a deleted scene it was stated outright.

There are some things Darth Vader should simply never say.
I found it very funny for James Earl Jones to have to deliver the line "where....is Padme?.....is she alright?"
It's only slightly less comical than him talking about "searching every household" in the Holiday Special.

No guys, I got it. Anakin's mother didn't want to leave Tatooine because she and Watto were lovers. In fact, Watto is actually Anakin's real father. Yes, foolproof.

Obi-Wan: "Your father....was the best star pilot in the galaxy......because he managed to shoot down some droid ships like hundreds of other Republic pilots........and he was a good friend.....who constantly whined and bitched at me, murdered children, and killed your mother, Luke"

You know now that I think about it, Watto being Anakin's father might actually kind of explain why he is so Force sensitive, due to the fact that Toydarians are immune to Jedi mind tricks. There could be some type of correlation there.
