By that I mean a champ that defends his or her title on almost every show against opponents from all up and down the card. The last time we had one was Cena with the US belt. However, there are so many different titles now that it seems odd for everyone to be in ongoing feuds facing the same people all the time.

Yeah, that bugs me, as well. I was hoping we would get that, years back, with Daniel Bryan after WM 30, instead we got that horrible Kane feud, ugh.

I feel like we were suppose to get that with Finn Balor. But it's because there's so many heels as the champion. Funny enough AJ Styles is a fighting champion that he's going to defend the title 3 times in a month. Once already at Ellsworth, once against this week on SD, and then at The Rumble.

CM Punk was sort of a fighting champion with the WWE title when he was a babyface.

Because that would mean the champ wasn't losing non title matches every week. Don't be ridiculous!

Because that'd be a logical way to book Reigns that might do him some good and the main theme over the past couple of years with him has been doing anything but.

Because the rosters are too thin. No wrestling roster is ever too thin to have a fighting champion. That's the whole point, they fight everyone regardless of their level of star power, and it helps give a rub for guys who aren't big stars to have a great match with a champ.

CM Punk was sort of a fighting champion with the WWE title when he was a babyface. I'll never forget how they hilariously tried to retcon his title run when he turn heel by saying that he cheated his way to winning title defenses, even though he was a fighting champion.

Simply put, because Finn Balor's still on the DL; he was supposed to get that kind of program in the follow-up to Summerslam. Now, of course, the Raw main event scene seems preoccupied with Rollins and Owens/Jericho, which should result in some kind of sidetracking of Rollins against the Authority and the more immediate program of Owens and Jericho splitting up; both are needed, really, in order for Balor to slip in among the tangled ends and walk out with the Universal title and the follow-up push. There feels to be a bit of a holding pattern on Raw, one which could have done with much more exposition in the process.

Kind of sad that the closest we've gotten to this as of late is Miz with the IC belt, and even then it feels like Daniel Bryan constantly throwing Dolph Ziggler as a challenger at him.

I would love to see a fighting champion. I've always hated non-title matches. If someone can beat the champ they should get the belt, not get a shot at the belt.

The Miz has pretty much been exactly that, but a bizarro version since in reality it's Daniel Bryan living vicariously thru Miz forcing him to put up the IC title nearly every week... He's got Miz defending it with Bryan's own moves even

This would actually be a good way to make the CW division mean something, have the Cruiserweight title be like a tv title and have him defend the belt each week.

There's too much WWE programming for it to work anymore. The champion would be defending the title too often every week on TV then on their frequent PPV's.
Plus eventually they'd just run out of challengers.

Miz has defended the IC title five times since winning it in mid November. He is a fighting champion, albeit a reluctant one.
