Thinking about the passing of George Michael and how we possibly may never hear Wham's Last Christmas again (because, "last" Christmas? And if this was a heart attack, just imagine...) And it made me think of things that will never be appropriate to play or show again. Off the top of my head another example would be John Denver's "Leaving on a Jet Plane." It's always Peter, Paul, and Mary's version when played on the radio, and maybe they were the ones who had the hit with it. But sometimes you gotta wonder.
I'm sure there's tons that were 9/11 related, but oddly it seems like that is one "taboo" we've gotten over. Not only are scenes with the Towers intact, but other shows where they are attacked/destroyed are once again visible.
What are some others?

Why would we never hear 'Last Christmas' again? He's not going to be 'Benoit-ed' from the festive music playlist for dying.

That does remind me though, anything Chris Benoit outside of the Network.

I think the first few times you hear it next year will feel a little strange. But I think it would be a huge over reaction and overly sensitive if any radio or tv channels decided to stop playing it. If anything 'Last Christmas' from now on becomes a poignant and meaningful tribute to a musical great. No need to stop playing it.

The Mel Smith and Kim Wilde version of Rockin Around the Christmas Tree has the line "I haven't had this much fun since Two Little Boys was number one" edited out due to the song's association with Rolf Harris.
Until Harris passes away or Two Little Boys is rerecorded I can't see that changing any time soon.

Just throwing it out there, John Denver's version of 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' is the only version of that song I ever hear. Which I'm fine with since it's the best version.

It is a bit crazy and somewhat creepy now to think that all this time he was singing about his future death date.
That said, it would be pretty stupid if they stopped playing this song round Christmas time because of this.
He hasn't murdered anyone or harmed anyone else so I see no reason why it shouldn't continue to be played round Christmas time..

I heard it last night at a Dennys, there's nothing "too soon" about it. Benoit obviously for the 'E, and I'd say O.J but even that got capitalized on this past year.

You're 8,000% incorrect to think they won't exploit the f*** out of his now eerily more poignant Christmas tune. You live here too. You know better.

In the age of social media there's no such thing as "too soon."

In the age of social media there's no such thing as "too soon." pretty much this. As time passes, it'll become more of an eerie coincidence. It's like when Eddie was thrown into a casket during a Smackdown vs. Raw season mode but died a few days before the game was released.

I think it's more irony than anything, like The Lynyrd Skynyrd album cover for Street Survivors

Redd Foxx's "Sanford and Son" character had a running gag of having a fake heart attack. Foxx's death from a real heart attack has since made Fred Sanford's fake ones hard to watch, let alone laugh at.

Redd's death was when he was filming a different sitcom, "The Royal Family". If it had happened ON "Sanford & Son", we probably wouldn't be seeing the re-runs.
