What gets me is that Punk has never put the WWE on blast. Even during the reveal podcast with Colt he remained respectful throughout when it came to WWE. He hasnt said anything negative about them, hasn't publicly shit on them on twitter and if he has, hes never done it directly from what i can remember and although what Stephanie said was funny and "savage" they're still in Punks hometown, let the crowd enjoy themselves. Im probably getting worked because Steph is a heel but I have held some animosity after hearing Punks side and them just letting him go. Coming from his mouth, Punk was a man that wanted to help the company, he wanted to help the talent and wanted to make everyone more money. But Vince put down every little idea he came across and for WWE to be sour, if what Punk says is true, really is petty. Chicago is Punk-city, its expected to get his chants. Yes, hes been gone for a long time. Its not a slight on the talent or anyone in particular, its the crowd wishing their hero would come back. And to be perfectly honest, a healthy dosage of Punk into this product is severely needed. Not on the Smackdown side but certainly on the Raw brand. True, but there are things that have outlived their shelf life, like chanting "What?" and fans booing Vince or Hebner whenever they were in Canada

Tit for tat, the fans are having fun with WWE talent by chanting for a dude who quit years ago instead of paying attention to talent that is actually in the ring so Steph should feel free to have fun with them back by stuffing the chants in their face with the UFC tease. At the end of the day nothing of value (save Punk's rep/shattered ego) has been lost!

Stephanie wishes she could be on CM Punk's level. She's not in his league.
While she's clawing around for relavance and wanting to look good at the expsense of her own company, CM Punk was in one of the biggest fights of the year and can do what ever he wants and people will follow him.
That's not an insult. That is just a fact of life.

Only Stephanie could really get away with that line. Someone like Roman said it, it would be highly criticized because he is not at the same level as Punk. Don't believe me, look how people reacted to Cena calling out the Rock and Punk doing the same. Cena was treated more harshly because how dare he insult him. It would had been double worst if Roman made that crack about Punk's MMA fight. That wouldn't made ESPN or Sports Illustrated because too many would be ripping Reigns a new asshole for daring to say that. Nah, people like Reigns when he's showing some real sass. A lot of people hate Stephanie but are admitting it was a good burn. I would have given the line to Owens though.

I was at the Raw in Philly, and during the down times, some CM Punk chants started, and were quickly booed down the majority of fans. I think at this point, we're pretty sick of that one. Don't like the product, be more creative.

Also, that a good deal of Punk's ire and hate is directed towards HHH and Steph (and they're not fond of him, either). I'm sure he doesn't like Roman (since in general, he hardly likes ANYBODY), but he doesn't have any reason to have a personal animus or vendetta (not even the "But I wanted them to put Kassius Ohno in the Shield instead of Roman!" thing). Steph saying the line works because there is direct real-world hate between the parties involved.

She runs a billion dollar company, literally was seated next to the Vice President of the United States, her mother is connected to the next president of the United States. We can argue how much of that is deserved(which is valid), but to say that she craves Punk's relevance as a freak show act on UFC or a guy who sits on a Walking Dead panel is just silly.

Punk gave WWE all the ammunition they needed. Had he laid low, took time away from wrestling, and avoided UFC he could have eventually come back with a part time deal and WWE would have probably given him everything he wanted. By going to UFC and embarrassing himself, he may have lost a lot of that leverage. If he came back he might be seen as a guy crawling back to wrestling with his tail between his legs and the butt of many jokes.
