It wasn't the most tasteless thing I've seen in recent years, but it was unnecessary.

This needs posted as well for full picture. It's the holiday season, so I can't really blame him for how he's feeling at this time with regards to family.

I'm pretty sure damn near everybody was unhappy with that segment. It wouldn't have been as bad if Golden Truth won the match, but nope they lost and Goldust took the fall.

If Cody's going to complain, he shouldn't do it in half-measures.
As for the segment, it would have been fine if it carried to it's logical "happy ending" conclusion: with Goldust kicking the crap out of them.

I said this in the Raw thread last night, but it annoys me how WWE, for all its "fun" claims, never lets anyone have any. Things like this have happened before where the logical conclusion should've been where the face gets retribution, but they always have the heels come out on top and pretend to lead it to something that never happens.

I would be upset too. They used Dusty to try and get heat for The Club. It was cheap and pointless.

My emotions in that segment were all over the place. From "Why is this happening?" to "Awwww that is so sweet!!!!" to "Why just why? WWE just had to go there".
Should have just ended the segment with Bayley presenting the bear to Goldust but no we can't have nice things.

No matter how corporate they get, the WWE is still at its still-beating heart a pack of carny folk who smell a quick buck in the blood of others.

Why is Cody the gate keeper of dusty's legacy ? Dustin was in the god damn segment. I'd imagine he wouldn't do If he wasn't ok with it. Cody can not like it all he wants but everyone Crucifying the segment seems like they only take in what Cody says and forgets custy had another son

Did Cody get upset with Chris Hero when he used a cardboard head of Dusty as a weapon during their match? I get being upset about losing a family member and wanting to fiercely protecting their legacy. But wrestling is the most carny business ever where anything and everything is open to exploitation for the almighty dollar. Dusty used the career ending car accident of Magnum T.A. to turn Nikita Koloff face, get himself over, and won the Crockett Cup. We glorify Dusty Rhodes for good reasons but tend to gloss over moments he crossed decency. I got little issues with last night's angle outside it is more than likely going to be forgotten next week. But the Club behaved as deplorable heels instead of trying to be cool heels. Goldust went after them with a vengeance but ultimately lost his quest for revenge. Nothing really to call for heads. Considering how Goldust doesn't bottle up his emotions on social media, we shall see soon enough if he signed off on it or if he is pissed it went down.

Here's what I think it is: Cody's a little raw this time of the year (Dusty hasn't been dead for that long, after all) and obviously isn't going to get a heads up or asked permission about anything to do with Raw.
Goldust was probably asked and said it was fine, but didn't have a chance to speak with Cody about it beforehand. Dusty probably wouldn't have cared either way. Still, I get why Cody's upset, and I feel for the dude, but I'm sure it'll blow over soon.

IMO I think dusty would probably be upset he wasn't put in a angle earlier.

I understand Goldust approving it thinking it'd help put some heat on Bald Head Club.
I also understand Cody watching it and finding it in bad taste.
At the least I think Goldust should have gotten an upset, good-feel victory.

At the end of the day wrestling is a carny business and almost everything is "fair game". The angle in itself was like damn okay but then you get over it and won't remember it by next week as you said. I would think they had Goldys blessing in reference to this and if he didn't he still acted in a professional manner and gave that angle his fullest. As you said Dusty used angles to help himself in the past and other people have done the same. It's an everlasting cycle.

The whole thing felt like a shot at Cody. He just joined the Bullett Club, and to have the mini chapter in WWE be the ones to do this to get heat almost felt like they were attacking him.

It's his dad. Regardless what type of business it is, we're all humans and one's profession doesn't change that. He's perfectly within reason to feel how he feels and it's not up to us to judge how he grieves or how he feels about a company he's not a part of using his late father in passing.
Let's try to remember we're all people here.
