Well since it happened before 2017, Nunes defeats Rousey in 48 seconds is acceptable.

Well 2016 is in the books now. If you haven't submitted a list yet, now is a good time to do so.

Good list and choices for mentions. I wouldn't be able to accept this though as I consider #9 to be 2 separate stories. If that's the case, then here's my updated top 10: 10. Peyton Manning announces his retirement 9. Villanova wins the NCAA men’s college basketball championship with a buzzer-beater in the tournament finals 8. Ryan Lochte fabricates a story about being robbed in Rio during the Summer Olympics 7. 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sparks a national debate on race relations after he sits during the playing of the national anthem 6. Michael Phelps wins five gold medals at the Summer Olympics, bringing his gold total to 23 medals, more than doubling the next closest athlete 5. Muhammad Ali dies 4. Leicester City’s underdog story is complete, as they win the Barclays Premier League 3. Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez dies in a boating accident 2. The Cleveland Cavaliers win the NBA Finals, overcoming a 3-1 series deficit and bringing a professional sports championship to Cleveland for the first time in 52 years 1. The Chicago Cubs win the World Series, ending the franchise’s 108-year championship drought

When you look at everything together, it was an eventful f***ing year.
For me, the Cubs and Leicester are the biggest stories.

Didn't get many submissions for this (It was 6 plus myself), so I'm just gonna extend this by 1 week. Hopefully I can get double-digits by then.
