I always tip at least 20%. Unless there's some unusual circumstance involved or really bad service.
I read that it used to be 10% was the norm,15% was generous, and 20% was over doing it, or saved for above and beyond service. Now it seems like 20% is the norm and 15% can even be considered cheap.

Usually 15%, then rounded up to the nearest dollar because I don't want a bunch of change. Better service gets bigger tip.

Pretty much the same here, and I am not demanding, so you have to do a pretty bad job if it's less than that. I never remember the norm being 10%, I remember it being 15%.

If it's good service then normally 25-30%.
Then again I'm also in the industry. We all mostly tip each other stupid fat.

I think I usually tip around 15%. I normally don't eat out at places that expect tips, but... yeah, when I do, that's where I average at.

Usually about 25 percent. If it's great service I might go higher. If it's subpar, say 15 or so.

0 i do not tip regardless of where i go Hope you never return to those places. Otherwise I fear for what you've ingested in your life. 20% rounded to the nearest dollar is my answer.

0 i do not tip regardless of where i go Is there any particular reason for that? I feel good service deserves a tip. DESERVES. Subpar and/or bad service, well.. lesser tips. 15 to 20% depending on the place is my answer.

and instead of fair and competitive wages the economics of goodwill or manipulation become the market...It's not like I haven't or don't ever tip but I don't enter restaurants thinking they better earn it or contemplating more than the price on the menu

Do you, like, not pay taxes then? That's also not part of the advertised price.

Which in and of itself is much worse then my action of not abiding by a stipulated act of grandeur where i need to pay more for a meal than advertised... So your aware of those you shaft? Because most restaurant's nowadays have tipshare which literally assumes tips from each customer and then distributes a percentage of that amount amongst kitchen and bar staff. When you don't tip at those restaurants there is no button for that. When you know that that is the system and still don't tip you are not only denying them there pay you are taking from what others have given. You can claim that it's worse but then don't eat there. There's plenty of non sit-down places to eat where you can not steal from people and claim it's some deep philosophy. If your from a place where tipping isn't a thing then fine no stress.

I was simply stating I do not tip...Its unusual when I do...I also dont regularly frequent any establishments requiring it either from a restaurant to a bar...As i said it's not like I haven't ever tipped but than that becomes a pissing contest...I understand the repercussions it causes but at the same time do not appreciate "expectancy"...

Next time it's time for me to pay my taxes i'll tell them I don't "appreciate expectancy".
