I don't mean that you realized you were in a dream, which apparently occasionally happens to people, but without realizing you were in a dream, you realize that something you saw just wasn't physically possible, which seems even weirder to me considering usually, in a dream, you tend to roll with everything no matter how little sense it makes.
I'm asking because last night, I dreamed I was visiting my parents (at our old place too IIRC although that didn't seem weird to me) when we were visited by my grandmother and my nanny (who is one of my best friends' mom). Now the thing is, they both died years ago and although I was in a dream and my parents were acting as if it wasn't weird, I knew they couldn't possibly be alive and standing in front of me.
I remember I even pondered whether to point this out or not although I chose not to because again, I was the only one who didn't find this situation strange and on top of that, it would be a bit awkward to pull my dad to the side and tell him "hey! Your mom can't be here, she's dead!". Still, I was starting to freak out as it became increasingly clear that it wasn't my imagination and that as far as I could tell, the dead had come back to life and I was the only person who realized that. Then I woke up and was very happy that I am not actually living out the plot to a Twilight Zone or Doctor Who episode.
It's the first time something like this has happened to me. Usually I never question anything I see in dreams. Even when something seems off, my mind finds an excuse for it or I just shrug it off. If anything, it can be a bit difficult to readjust when I wake up and realize that events from the dream didn't happen but here, not only did I question it, it became increasingly clear that I was right to question it.
