Look at the Rusev/Reigns feud. Rusev was a guy defending his wife's honor from a guy insisting she is a ho and disrupting their wedding celebration. Before HIAC he even cut a heated promo vowing revenge on Reigns for all the stuff he had done to Lana. Rusev came off like the total face in the feud. . Another problem was that Roman never had any problem with Rusev. The feud was literally. Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Rusev wins the attack but Roman spears him afterwards to stand tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Rusev finally gets something resembling a victory. Roman stands tall Roman stands tall Roman stands tall That is not how you book a face feud, the villains have to look at least semi competent to tell a story. Even someone like Superman has trouble dealing with the villains in some capacity in his stories.

That's the frustrating part. WWE won't just push the guy already and let him bomb with the belt a la 1995 Diesel. It's this constant hedging of bets, where he gets the title but then HHH screws him a month later. Beats HHH, but then fails a drug test and jobs to Rollins. The top guy on Raw in theory is Owens with the Universal title, but he regularly takes a back seat to the U.S. champion. The weird thing is that after WM in 2015 WWE scaled back on Reigns's push and he got semi over with the Wyatt feud. He was even over initially when Vince was messing with him. I think that's what Reigns needs, a total scumbag heel opposing him. HHH just wasn't that guy. HHH always has to look good or at least fairly noble in defeat, so we got that dreary WM match. A lack of truly loathsome heels hurts WWE a lot. Does anyone really hate Owens or Jericho right now? They're too silly and kind of likable. The irony is that HHH was involved in a storyline where he and HBK were the lowest heel scum in the history of wrestling, namely that initial DX stuff in late 1997/early 1998. It cracked me up listening to a recent Bryan Alvarez rant about Raw where he noted that WWE's strongest babyfaces are guys that are meant to be heels. Strowman has been destroying scrubs and getting pops for it, kind of bad boy antihero cheers. Rusev was noted. Jericho and Owens are so goofy and entertaining that you can't really hate them. Raw is a poorly put together roster of talent. It just is. There is no midcard to speak of at the moment. Tag ranks are scorched earth after New Day's incessant reign, though we'll see what Sheamus and Cesaro can do. The main event scene has guys who are all quite literally being booked in the wrong roles. How vile and hate-able can a heel even be anymore, though? Society is at a point where heels can't really say socially unacceptable things anymore, or people will just plain tune out. They can't really be excessively violent and brutal, they'll just get cheered for being a badass. The only thing that really gets someone hated anymore is being moldy shit in the ring and the perception that they've stolen someone else's roster spot (or in Roman's case, eating someone else's push).

The one-two punch of Roman Reigns and terrible commentary is why I now only watch NXT and the Big Four PPVs.

They have to turn him heel. Have him do a promo where he says he tried to be a nice guy, but the fans didn't appreciate it, so now everyone is fair game.
A year as a heel will help him win over the fans. Have him say something like "if you support me, that's cool, if you don't, I don't give a shit"
DO NOT have him say something like "If you don't like me, that's OK, you have the right to feel that way" or any other Cena-esque lines.

Im fine with Seth but not in this unjustifiable Face Role that he's in where instead of turning face on his own merits he had to get screwed by HHH and in the end hasn't learned a damn thing
Dean's my boy though.
Still riding with Roman. No wrestler is without flaws and distractors. People were shocked that Zack Sabre Jr wasn't treated as a god even with the workrate and indy cred. People just now accepting Cena. All it took was John becoming a part timer and imitating 2008 ROH wrestlers. I know Reigns isn't perfect but I still a fan of his and nothing people say about him is going to change that. Let me preface this by saying that while I'm not the biggest Roman fan, I can certainly see the appeal of him to Vince McMahon and WWE. I also think that the IWC has gotten so used to hating Roman Reigns that it's just become "A Thing," like it was with Cena. He was initially hated because he wasn't Daniel Bryan, as the IWC thought DB was going to be the Bret of this generation. Sadly, that never happened, but that was the initial thing that sunk Roman from being a mega face....he wasn't Daniel Bryan. Of course, then, as I said earlier, the IWC got so used to hating Roman Reigns, that it just became a default thing, and gradually crept into the regular audiences until Reigns became as constantly booed as the most hated heel. It's sad, too, as Roman has stepped it up in ring, and has delivered solid/great matches in the last year. For all those that think that WWE are going to job the guy out/fire him just because they're sick of him, I hate to tell you, but that's not going to happen (Unless he fails a few more Wellness checks). WWE sees him as another Cena situation, and just like Cena, they're going to beef his career up over the next few years until, like Cena, you have no choice but to accept him. Think about this: if Roman beats Owens for the title at the RR, it'll be his 4th World Championship win. Hardly the failure that the IWC try to paint him as. Point is, Roman Reigns is going No where. He's always going to be in that Main Event circle, unless he messes up in some major way. Accept it, and quit freaking out every time Roman wins stuff strongly. He's seen as being one of WWE's top guys, and that's what you do with your top guys.

Fair enough. Meanwhile, I'd start watching again if they got Kevin Owens out of the main event.

The second Goldberg was used to make Roman look good I stopped giving a shit about Goldberg See, this, I don't really get. They were using a part-timer to help elevate a current roster guy. That's the kind of stuff they dont' do nearly enough. Sure, Roman is basically dead in the water right now but I appreciate the thought behind the segment.

I mean, not really though. Just look at the Miz. He doesn't say "offensive" stuff or try to be shocking. He's just a dastardly guy that cheats a lot and talks shit about babyfaces. This stuff really isn't that hard if the booking is solid and you have genuinely likeable babyfaces.

People are acting like Goldberg personally got on the mic and verbally blew the dude. They worked together to take out a monster heel and then were like, "aight, get ready to go at the Rumble." That's it. No harm to Goldberg whatsoever. People are trying to do the most with this when it really wasn't anything all that major. You gotta get your guys over and book them like...stars. Like, that's wrestling. I'm not gonna fault them for trying. Now, it's misguided because Roman as the tippy top face has been a tremendous flop for a variety of reasons but it's not the end of the world.

If WWE follow past patterns, that won't be the last time they do a "I respect you" sort of thing towards Reigns from Goldberg, which will only lead to more resentment towards both guys. I do fault them for trying, because it won't work, and they should by now that it won't.
