Call me a purist but I hated the Chase. We all know it was in response to Kenseth winning the title with one victory. Then they expand it when they realize Jr isn't consistent enough to be in the top 10 and it evolves into the monstrosity we have now. Kyle Busch winning the title a few years ago solidified the already known bullshit nature of the playoff system and NASCAR's management as a whole.
And as much as everyone ballyhoo Smoke winning the title and that epic battle with Carl, it only happened because, much like Courtney Force, he got hot at the right time.

I laugh at the people who call Torrence a whiner and a baby. I'd be pissed in that situation as well. Work your ass off all season, especially as a single car team against the Schumacher/Force/Kalitta juggernaut millionaire teams, and to lose to a team who wouldn't have even been in that position if the points system was normal.
NASCAR and NHRA are the only two sanctioning motorsports that have this goofy playoff shit. And it's hurt the sport more than helped.
F1 doesn't have it. Indycar doesn't have it. Supercross doesn't have it. And so forth. So why do they need it?

Everything mentioned so far is why even though it has become predictable, I will be super pissed if Truex DOESN'T win the championship. It's not even on the same level of Terry Labonte winning with 2 wins and consistency vs Jeff Gordon with 10 wins and more DNFs, Truex has just been flat out dominant all year.
I'm honestly curious how the current Championship Four setup doesn't lead to team orders and people being ordered to covertly crash out the other leaders. Yeah, we all saw how well it worked out for MWR, but still.

Smoke won 5 of the last 10 races. With that performance, he earned that title. It was amazing.

Supercross is going to it next year. .....MOTHER F***ER!!!!! *flips table* I lied. They are changing the points structure, but not introducing a playoff. But I know they've discussed adding a playoff. Here's a link to the 2018 changes. www.supercrosslive.com/en-US/news/changes-announced-2018

*unflips the table magically, all the contents go back on it like nothing happened* That's different. We did that at the track I raced at, changing the points structure.

Danica taps the wall and doesn't work a full day on her last day of full time racing.
I don't frequent here as much as I used to...glad to see you guys are still rocking it.
My opinion of Princess Danica isn't in question.
Good riddance.
EDIT: Accuracy.

And Martin Truex Jr. wins in Miami and wins the Monster Energy Series Championship! Those last 20 laps were intense. The right guy won the championship. He won the most races and had the most points.

And Martin Truex Jr. wins in Miami and wins the Monster Energy Series Championship! After all that him and his girlfriend have been through, he's become one of my favorites. So glad to see him finally win the Big One.

Damn it. Really was hoping Kyle would pull it off. Was hoping for Kevin, myself. I don't like when the "Feel Good Story" wins, because in the back of my mind I can't help but wonder if it was just a little bit manufactured in one way or another.

Kinda weird how Truex wins his first 'chip on Junior's "last race ever and forever forever fo evah" til Daytona.
Just kidding, congrats to Truex, and the Furniture Row team.

Tony Stewart settling down? Good Lord the world must be ending. I still remember when he was dating Jessica Zemken (who is now married to Stewart Friesen).
