So how many times do you think Vince, HHH and other top WWE officials tried to call/contact Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada in the past 2 days? Not to mention in the past two years or so. Is it worth it anyway?

It wouldn't surprise me if they've called them both more than once, certainly Kenny Omega.
I hope Okada has their numbers blocked.

Omega they called but I'm pretty sure he's saying yea no thanks
Okada is saying maybe. I'd give him another 3 years if he has it in his head. I'm sure Nakamura plays a big role in that as well.

You'd figure TNA have scared Okada from going near America ever again.

They've called Omega in the past but he respectfully declined.
They've also tried to get Okada last year, they were heavily interested in him because key people in the company found out he was tall. No bullshit.

Another one or two certinally is Tanahashi and Naito. Makes you wonder if they've been bugging them too.

I honestly don't think Vince even knows who Omega and Okada are, but I'm sure Triple H had his eye on the match.

You'd figure TNA have scared Okada from going near America ever again. I believe he's stated that he doesn't want to work in the states again after that.

The funny thing is that when I heard Okada was tearing up NJPW I just couldn't take him 100% seriously due to his absurd TNA run where he was doing his Kato/Green Hornet gimmick. I don't really know what WWE wants with these Japanese guys. Given how promo heavy the main shows are it's not like these guys will ever get a serious push, given the lack of English promo skills. It really does seem to be an effort to hurt NJPW, which echoes Omega's comments about WWE "signing guys just to sign them."

I think there are a few reasons behind it, 1 as much content as possible for the Network, especially anything that is going to appeal to foreign subscribers to up those numbers. I think that is why they are focusing on signing so many foreign talents in general these days, they are trying to tap markets that they haven't really tapped before. I also think a big part of it is since Triple H took over the WWE is trying to establish that if you are a top wrestler anywhere in the world the WWE is the place to be. That's where you wanna be above all else and they won't turn you away for being to small or foreign etc etc if you are a top flight worker the WWE wants you. I think they are trying to cultivate that by taking top talent from everywhere.

Did Okada sign like a 5 year deal last year when he re-upped with New Japan? I'm almost positive they locked him down long term, vs the 1 or 2 year deals they normally do
Omega has definitely softened his stance an returning to WWE in the past year or so, but I still expect him to stick around NJPW for another year or two and then come in to WWE with the sort of momentum AJ had

I really dislike Kenny Omega, since the beginning, I agree with Cornette that after the stupid comedy stuff he has done that he should be tarred and feathered.
Having said that I hereby change my views about him. Meltzer said that he probably had the best match of all time against Okada. He deserves an epic wwe run. I can no longer said anything bad about him.

Vince would fall in love with him. A tall guy well built that can work and who has charisma. f*** Vince Russo and TNA for almost derailing a great career.

Personally I loved Omega's match with that little girl. It was a sign of his talent, rather than him embarassing wrestling.

I think they could both have memorable runs in WWE today. This isn't the "FCW clone" cookie cutters era anymore.

I doubt Okada is going to be coming over any time in the forseeable future, as he's finally come into his crowning as New Japan's ace. The promise of money and position are huge. Poaching a content "the guy" is rare for a reason. If he comes to WWE it would probably only be at a time when he's older and the company is looking to ease him down the card anyway while they bring the shinier, newer guys.

I think it is funny that people are acting like Omega would most assuredly say no because he has in the past and has been publicly opposed to it very recently. That is just publicly negotiating and driving up his price. If WWE wants him, they already know that it would take more money than they would have thought just 6 months ago.
I'm not saying he will sign, but suggesting that he WOULD if the number is right...and he is doing what he can to get that number up there.

The thing is Kenny has wanted to build his legacy in japan and he is serious about that. It is something he takes pride in and I can see once/if he gets his run at the top and WWE is breaking the door down to get him then he would make that jump
