Bored at work and thought of this there were 3 movies with Batman in it in 2016... 2 of which people have been waiting forever to get made... And all of them under-preformed, were just not particularly good, meddled with by the studio, or added a ton of unnecessary shit... Whether it be Zack Snyder proving he doesn't understand the characters or story he claims to have loved on even a basic fundamental level, Bruce Timm* making Killing Joke finally after it being clamored forever... and he decided to make it "a Batgirl story" by adding a completely unnecessary and unconnected plotline that ends with Batgirl f***ing Batman... WHICH NOBODY ASKED FOR. Or uh... Suicide Squad, where Batman who has been shown to have no qualms killing people... let's Joker live ... for reasons... fine I didn't see Suicide squad so I can't comment on it entirely but he was involved so that counts edit: *accidentally wrote Paul Dini instead of Bruce Timm... originally

I didn't like Batman vs Superman, but I thought Suicide Squad was even worse.
I didn't watch Killing Joke because no matter how good people say one of those straight to video animated DC movies are, I never wind up liking them.

BvS because it pissed away more potential While true, and when I vote it would probably be for BvS too... but The Killing Joke is considered one of the best Batman stories written by a lot of people... and they half-assed the animation and in trying to "do right by Barbara" made her even more of a prop than the original story did.

Suicide Squad was far and away my favorite.
I've been quite vocal about my issues with Batman vs Superman, and I'm "eeeeh..." on the original Killing Joke to begin with. The stuff with that mobster and the tacked on romantic subplot didn't help.

I was a little more willing to give it a shot when they mentioned they were going to make Barbara more proactive in the story... and then I saw how they did it which was making her a rookie and added an unconnected plotline and Timm again trying to make Barbara and Bruce a thing causing Barbara to immediately retire ... and then the movie goes on as normal... and I just facepalmed...

Paul Dini making Killing Joke finally after it being clamored forever... and he decided to make it "a Batgirl story" by adding a completely unnecessary and unconnected plotline that ends with Batgirl f***ing Batman... WHICH NOBODY ASKED FOR. Paul Dini wasn't involved. It's Bruce Timm who's become a gross old creep. That said, as disgusting as The Killing Joke movie is, BvS is a bigger disappointment. Zack Snyder is a con man who managed to get to the top of a franchise he has no business touching.

BvS. You blew it Snyder. This could of been start of a legacy with a Billion Dollars attached to it. Now they are going into the League movie luke warm and Ben Affleck flips his mind about solo Batman movie every week.
The Killing oke was damn well disappointing but no where near level of BvS. Barbara story line sucked ass and I get it was an attempt to pad time and build sympathy but do not fix what isn't broken. If the movie was only going to be 45 mins with source material so be it.

KILLING JOKE gets my vote. A wonderful Mark Hamill spotlight. Nothing else. That 30 minute prelude that took me right the f out of the movie. I hoped for more, didn't get it, boom.
SUICIDE SQUAD was barely a Batman movie - that underwater THWACK! to Harley was shockingly lol worthy.
And BATMAN v SUPERMAN .......exists. Didn't enrage me, but didn't impress me.

I'm in the (seemingly) tiny minority that really liked BvS even before the Ultimate Edition came out. Suicide Squad was such a let down. It didn't even feel like a movie. It just felt like some child slamming action figures together in his room for two hours.

Leto was okay but was a little too hammy in some scenes. Supporting players did what they needed to. Assault on Arkham was better tho

Killing Joke, only narrowly beating out BVS. Bring back most of the original BTAS cast and an adaptation of one of the most infamous comics only to blew it.

As someone who didn't like Batman V Superman, I will say this much: for whatever it's worth, all my gripes are with the Superman stuff. All the Batman stuff worked, more or less. I'd even argue it was an okay Batman movie (if not as good as the Dark Knight movies) that was dragged down by an absolutely shit Superman movie.
The Killing Joke, on the other hand, was just bad. Besides the fact that they took the one real flaw of an otherwise iconic story (the objectification of Barbara Gordon) and managed to somehow make it about ten times worse, it just wasn't a good film. There is no reason that I can see why this animated film had to happen.

Killing Joke exists just to show Batsex.

For as much good stuff there is in Batfleck, like the fight scenes, the voice modulator, and Affleck's performance, it's still a Batman which flat out murders people with guns and is tricked into fighting Superman in a plot pretty much every other Batman in existence would've figured out months before the beginning of the movie. He's basically the Punisher.
Suicide Squad's Batman is a better by virtue of the fact that he doesn't kill anybody.
Killing Joke's Batman is more like the Batman we all know, though he's a condescending dick to Batgirl... and the less said about the sex scene the better.

On the bright side, 2016 also brought us Return of the Caped Crusaders, which was awesome.

I can't remember the last time a movie infuriated me the way Batman vs. Superman did.
