A grown man wearing lipstick and nude tights is paired with his man servant. You type some shit like that in your search bar and without erasing your history and that can send you to jail. Aron Rex, what the f*** is wrong with you? When you pitched this gimmick to WWE I'm pretty sure they thought you were clinically insane and was never going to trust giving you a push again. It comes off as a dude that wants to be Dalton Castle or The Genius but isn't subtle enough to pull it off at all. The main difference between a gimmick like this and Dalton Castle is that Dalton is merely influenced by Freddie Mercury, but is making it his own character. Rex on the other hand basically looks like he saw a picture of Liberace and his chauffeur, put on a stereotypical gay lisp and decided to just leave it like that.

Spud has the look of a person wondering exactly he did wrong in a past life to deserve this. Spud: "I passed up an opportunity to go to the WWE for THIS?"

Literally a low hanging fruit gimmick. He is doing a 70's/80's sitcom stereotypical gay guy. Like he watched videos of Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly & decided that was too butch for his character idea. Watch TNA try to sell this to GLAAD as a groundbreaking character like they did with Orlando Jordan. Like every bad gay trope is on display. Wears women makeup. Dances like Liberace. Has a manservant. Talks with a lisp. Limp wisted. Effeminate. Before long, he will sexually harass to his male opponents and be a sexual predator. This is one of the gimmicks done on a shindy along with the obese dude who considers himself sexy and the skinny Hot Topic goth. Yeah, I was just thinking about that today at work. We all remember how GLAAD reacted to the Billy & Chuck wedding. Well, wait till they get a load of this.

It baffles me that in 2017, *this* is what he came up with for himself.

I think ths gimmick could ALMOST work, but it needs some other element. Winkingly playing ridiculous, outdated stereotypes can be totally fine, but you either need to tweak it or to play it up so much it it becomes clear we can all have fun with how silly it is.
I think the element that is closest to working is Spud. If the focus was on him, as a working dude getting paid to placate this ludicrous man, and he had a "Well, another day in the salt mines" attitude, the whole thing would be great.

I thought when Sandow left he been one of those prove everyone wrong talents but he been nothing but the shits. I feel I was way wrong about him and he was getting so much praise when he was released.

"ok... maybe the WWE was right not to push him" turn arounds I've ever seen...

This could work if Rex added a hint of subtlety to it. He could initially try it as a cry for attention after being unhappy with the fan response to being just old generic Aron Rex. So he tries to be overly outlandish to make a point, to get something out of the fans. Then you could have it over time become less and less of an act with Rex becoming more in tune with this persona he has created with Spud playing the straight man (no pun intended) to him the whole time.

That probably could be pretty good if they really embraced focusing on Spud having to deal with all this, but it seems more a sitcom joke than something that'd be easy to work into a wrestling context. Doesn't help that TNA doesn't do long-lasting flunkies anyway, Spud'll probably turn on him at the next tapings.

Because of Mad Max and FOTNS I'll always down for a good Flamboyant Queen character. This is not a good Flamboyant Queen character. Adrian Street remains the only man able to pull off the mincing queer character effectively. Probably because he also kicked the shit out off people. He also had an amazing singing voice.

Spud: "I passed up an opportunity to go to the WWE for THIS?" Wait, he did? I mean in regards to the UK tournament that the WWE's doing. Mandrews left the company in order to do it, and I'm sure that Spud would have been accepted as well had he applied

Watch out WWE. Between this, Brooke Tessmacher, and Jeff Jarrett back in charge TNA is about to create the biggest boom period in wrestling history.

Outta curiosity, watched a clip.
What year does he think this is? Liberace has been DEAD for thirty years now. Topical?

I will grant him that in this pic, he at least looks like he's in a bit better shape than last time around, but it's still a pretty terrible gimmick idea unless you're already a pretty flamboyant guy as it is.

The thing is, I still think Sandow/Rex has something to offer. And playing the clown in the WWE was not the solution and him being a tough serious wrestler in his early TNA run was not it either. And this is definitely not it.
Turning Rex heel was the right thing to do but this is going too much big cartoonish character that would not even have being accepted in the 80s, maybe in the 70s.
Saviors of the Masses was really his ideal gimmick. While he could be intense and badass in the ring, his character had a wink wink heel character thing going that could be funny at times but not too over-the-top. I have this image of him when he wrestled Cena for the title and this is the thing he should have stuck with. It was perfect.
