New BTS live player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/ep-231-december-18-24-1993-with-beau-james-al-getzJim Cornette's long letter to the Torch about Wade Keller’s coverage of the “race riot” at an SMW show in Wise, Virginia. Bobby Heenan coming to WCW just as Jesse Ventura is staying in WCW, and Davey Boy Smith leaving WCW, including how he was buried on TV to make way for the debut of the Big Bossman as “The Boss." Otto Wanz running his big year-end show just days after the tragic in-ring death of Larry Cameron. The WWF running some egregious 900 number polls, the debuts of Sparky Plugg & Double J, the return of Randy Savage to WWF Mania, Frank Deford writing to the Observer, and much more. Beau & Al also tell some amazing stories from their time in the business, to boot

BUMP! Double shot of new BTS this week Last monday saw the release of episode 235 (Jan. 15-21 1992) WCW Clash of the Champions XVIII in Topeka—the first big event under the Kip Frey regime—and all of the big happenings that night like Jesse Ventura’s debut, as well as how everyone seems happier in WCW since Jim Herd left (But not for very long though). New Japan planning the NWA Title tournament, the WWF getting TV in Japan, lots of future stars working for Universal Lucha Libre in Japan, Joel Goodhart going bankrupt and cancelling his final TWA “supershow,” Dennis Coralluzzo bringing out Jerry Lawler's "kids" on USWA TV, and last but not least, ROYAL RUMBLE ’92. Yes, THAT show, complete with Ric Flair winning his first WWF Championship in one of the most historic moments in modern wrestling history, plus the story of Bret Hart not jumping to WCW when he had the chance. player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/ep-235-january-15-21-1992-with-tyler-gignacBut that's NOT ALL! Kris and David have unfinished business as they cover the REST of the week that was January 16-22, 2000. Ken Shamrock signing with Dream Stage Entertainment and the ramifications that would have on the wrestling & MMA worlds. ECW getting a boost from Acclaim, Toshiaki Kawada returning to AJPW after a long absence from injury, Dennis Coraluzzo kicked out of his own promotion, the TV debut of WXO (recently covered on Wrestling With Wregret), Steve Austin's spinal surgery, and a wild week between The Rock and Opie & Anthony that you must hear. player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/ep-1835-everything-but-wcw-january-16-22-2000

Has anyone listened to the newest episode, #235 (January 22-28)? More specifically, the last section, the WCW part. I just want to see if it sounded like a wreck to anyone else other than myself?
Kris and Bix CONSTANTLY talked over each other to the point where you could barely understand what was being said. It honestly sounded somewhat intentional like two separate audio tracks were overlapped in post production.
I was streaming the podcast on my phone instead of having it pre-downloaded, and I occasionally have weird sound issues because of that, so I just wanted to see if anyone else listened this week.

Bix has been having issues with the IOS Skype recording deal. A faxed version of the WCW section was uploaded Tuesday morning.
Also, related/unrelated, Kris's dad passed away yesterday so there will be no show this week.

Big week of BTS this week NEW BTS episode #245 is live player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/ep-245-april-8-14-1988The Midnight Rider debuts on JCP's World Championship Wrestling, NWA's house show issues, Lex Luger and Barry Windham having some minor issues as a team, Akira Maeda reforming the UWF in Japan, Stampede doing great business, Dave Meltzer’s thoughts on USA Wrestling in Knoxville, a wild wrestling scene in Florida, Scotty the Body getting chumped off by Missy Hyatt, the debut of the Rude Awakening (the kiss, not the wrestling move), and so much more But wait there's more! 195.5 player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/ep-1955-everything-else-april-10-16-2000-with-dominic-garrini all the major issues going on in the state of New Jersey with the attempt to regulate "extreme wrestling" and all of the political drama surrounding it. the final Champion Carnival tournament in the pre-split era of All Japan, the tragic death of Masakazu Fukuda after a match with Katsuyori Shibata in New Japan, the great Japanese indie scene of this era, the UFC running in Japan with Tito Ortiz finally winning the under 200 lbs./middleweight title, and a crazy U.S. indie scene featuring the Insane Clown Posse, XPW, & so much more. But WAIT, THERE IS EVEN MORE: player.fm/series/between-the-sheets-1283773/kfr-podcast-vol-2-ep-4-kings-of-the-road-with-beau-jamesFrequent BTS Guest Beau James joins Scott Bowden to discuss the origins of the Road Warrior Humongous gimmick in Memphis, originating in the mind of Jerry Lawler as Hawk and Animal’s post-apocalyptic pal as the unofficial third member of the treacherous trio, gimmicks based on the “Mad Max” films. Bowden reveals his thoughts on the gimmick as a young fan as well as his interactions years later with the man originally under the hockey mask: his high-school football coach, Mike “the Mule” Stark, a former Memphis State gridiron great and late ’70s-era Memphis grappler. Bowden and James share their knowledge of how the gimmick made its way—sans Stark—to Continental and Ron Fuller’s Stud Stable and how the role was recast. Bowden and James also reminisce about the rib they pulled in Memphis on a USWA hopeful that left one would-be grappler stark naked—and still seething about it years later.
