I hope Matt Ryan passes for 450. I hope Julio Jones goes Jerry Rice on Malcolm Butler. I hope Vic Beasley and co. sack Brady a dozen times. I hope Keanu Neal/Deion Jones lights up Edelman/Amendola/Hogan over the middle. I hope Freeman and Coleman run for 250 between them.
But let's face facts here. The Pats will win by the skin of their disgusting teeth. Gostkowski will do his best Vinatieri impression and win it.
Being a Giants fan, I shouldn't mind the Patriots that much. But they're from Boston. And Boston sports teams make me sick to my stomach. Luckily no team from the NFC East made it to the Super Bowl this year. I remember when the f***-ass Eagles made it and I actually had to root for the Patriots... felt like a debilitating disease.
Patriots 34, Falcons 31

Something tells me when the Mrs. & I go shopping during the SB, it won't be what I call "7 clerks and YOU". If I don't have a rooting interest, I don't watch. We usually watch the Puppy Bowl instead. My teens enjoy that.

I think it's weird that if you had a poll on a NC game with Duke in it or a WS with the Yankees in it, I would never expect the majority to be rooting for the so-called evil empires. But it's almost 2/3rds in favor of the Pats right now, and they're the most recently successful of the 3. I want the Falcons, but I'm not sure they can pull it off. I think people are sleeping on them hard though and I would definitely take the +3. The AFC was in a down year and if you've watched the Falcons offense all year they're dangerous. It's not just a broken down Packers D, everybody has gotten lit up. The Broncos and Eagles are the only teams that kept them under 24, and they put up 23 against Denver. Gotta remember The hatred of the Yankees is something from WAY back from the...40s, I believe? That's some deep rooted stuff.

What would be the SB51 storyline be?
Here's what I can think of:
1. Will Goodell hand the Lombardi Trophy to the Pats in perhaps the most awkward trophy presentation since Pete Rozelle handing the trophy to Al Davis after the Raiders won SB15? 2. The top scoring offense (Falcons) vs. the top scoring defense (Patriots); in all but one of these cases, defense won. Also, the Pats defense will try to prove that they are the best after facing criticism that they only faced weak offenses 3. Brady and Belichick going for their fifth ring to surpass Montana and Bradshaw (Brady), as well as Noll (Belichick) 4. The Belichick Bowl: Thomas Dimitroff and Scott Pioli, the Falcons' GM and assistant GM, respectively, worked with BB during their times with the Browns and Pats

If the Pats defense manages to somehow shut down the Falcons offense they'll have to go down statistically as an all time defense.
Wow. I mean it's a big IF and I'm not sure they can do it but 15 PPG for a season is what it is. You drop a QB with a 13:1 TD:INT ratio, a RB with 18 TDs and this team looks all time.
On the flip side if Ryan is out of his playoff shnide and they can drop 30+ on this defense then we'll have to admit they're as legit as it gets. This offense can also be considered as all time.

According to some articles, it's because neither the Cowboys nor the Texans are in it.

According to some articles, it's because neither the Cowboys nor the Texans are in it. I think its more because the Falcons are in it. Cowboys v. Patriots would be a record breaker in every way and Patriots v Green Bay wouldn't be much worse.
Atlanta is a garbage pro sports city.

One click away from going to the Super Bowl.
Our flights and hotel would be free.
Looking at $3k for tickets each

I can't believe I'm rooting for the Patriots to win, just to see Goodell hand that trophy to Tom Brady. Honestly, I don't root for either team, and I wouldn't mind either team winning, but I'm slightly pulling for New England more.

Me too, I want to see the visual of Goodell handing the trophy to Brady as the Falcons have NO CHANCE IN HECK and please cue up the Mr. McMahon theme

It makes me sick to say it, but living in Falcons territory has completely overtaken me and I'm at the point to where I want them to win. People around here are excited to an extreme level, and honestly, I don't want to see them disappointed. Damn my softening heart.
Having said that, 90% of the Falcons fans I know expect them to either get blown out or lose in the most heartbreaking way possible. To do either would truly be the Atlanta way.

This Falcons team sort of feels like a footnote/stepping stone team for the Patriots to achieve history. Sort of like the 72 Redskins, or John Elway's last game when he beat... the Falcons in the Super Bowl.
Though realistically, I WON'T say the Falcons have NO chance. If Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are on point, the Falcons will be a tough foe. Also, ALL 6 of Brady's Patriots Super Bowls were close games, so you would think this one will be too.
I'll go Pats 37-33.

The Falcons have a good chance of winning. They're stacked on offense and the defense seems to be coming around to a point.
That being said, if it's a 10/1 Pats to Falcons crowd at the Super Bowl giving the Pats a homefield advantage it's going to be damn tough.
