Honestly I don't know which was worse: Andrew "The Punisher" Martin or Junior Fatu.

They were doing an angle with him and then shit just got dropped I remember Test being in one show and was like 2x the size he was in WWE. The running joke is even TNA fired him for being too roidy.

You guys ever see in the independent wrestling companies where they bring in a former WWE guy for the night simply because he was in WWE and then have said WWE guy go over their top guys? That's the issue with TNA. I don't mind them picking up an ex WWE guy who is a big star or can really add something to their roster and television show (EG Lashley) but when they're bringing in the likes of Brodus Clay, Damien Sandow and Hornswoggle a fan kind of assumes that they are there simply because they used to be in WWE. Look at Bound For Glory. Last four matches last year featured Edwards Vs Sandow (WWE), Hardys (WWE) Vs The Decay, Gail Kim (WWE) Vs Maria (WWE) and EC3 (WWE) Vs Lashley (WWE). That's six former WWE guys and just three who haven't appeared on WWE TV. But even that also has the same thing for that "ex WWE stigma" as well- it's not entirely black and white there either. On paper, that's the case. However, Maria left WWE 7 years ago and indeed came to them from an acclaimed run in ROH. It's far fairer to claim she was a "ex ROH worker" than "ex-WWE worker". It shows the "ex-WWE guy" stigma fails for two reasons: 1- It inherently says it's okay to pluck from ROH than WWE [or SHIMMER, in Rosemary's case], and 2- If you're going to say Maria's ex-WWE because of that, then you can argue Eddie Edwards (who was also an ex-ROH guy) wouldn't count because the Wolves had their cup of coffee with NXT. Same token with EC3- maybe he used to work in WWE, but the man repackaged himself for a TNA run to a whole new gimmick, which has absolutely nothing to do with Derrick Bateman or anything Derrick Bateman did in WWE except for "Michael Hutter is the actor who portrayed all three characters." If anything, EC3 is the type of ex-WWE guy- similar to the Broken Hardys (or to a lesser extent, Sandow) who should be PRAISED for their TNA work because they did the incredibly risky move of try to get rid of their WWE gimmick and play an entirely new character (which is a hard thing- if you fail, you get rid of the opportunity to just go to the shindies and play your gimmick.) Just because there's so many former WWE guys doesn't mean that it's like "bring in Brodus Clay or Hornswoggle for being in WWE".

Maybe I'm a bit nostalgic whatever but I had never a problem with TNA or WCW or any other company using legends. Just do not make them the focal point.
WWE/F was never about that, it always seemed like Vince hated tradition and wanted to hide the wrestling past, calling it "sport entertainment" and so forth. It's only recently that he decided to bring in old guys like Sting and Goldberg. But there is a market or a different wrestling mindset that can embrace the legends or older wrestlers. Hell I wouldn't have a problem if TNA would hire Billy Gunn for the mid-card. I actually think fans would like it. Even Scott Steiner. But threat it as a novelty/midcard act.
The problem was hiring Nash, Steiner, Sting, etc... put them in a group and having them roll over the young talent.

The problem is that their audience is constantly being given the perception that guys settle for TNA because the company up north was mean to them Only Christian willingly chose to come to TNA without getting in trouble with management or fired by WWE. TNA has and is still seen by fans and wrestlers alike as the place to go when WWE doesn't want you anymore. For sure. But at the same time, if I'm promoter and see these guys as stars cause they've been in WWE/WCW and people still want to see them, I would be stupid not to hire them. Stygma be damned.

There is no issue to having stars on shows. The issue is using them to help your promotion & rosters without undercutting your people in the process. TNA way too often let their homegrown talent look second or third fiddle to former WWE/WCW/ECW people no matter their previous level of importance. If your goal is to boost your people & company with the hire: fine. But if you are willing to sacrifice goodwill with fans and your locker room just to give that person an ego stroke: nah.

Yeah, they started an Angle with Rikishi... Rikishi basically demanded more money and TNA let him go.

What is Brittany Knight doing in the impact zone? "I created the divas revolution, and will do the same here" Proceeds to have a shit match against Angelina Love. Then she'll leave when they tell her they have to pay her in the money she and El Cokehead Del Knifefight will use to buy coke, not directly in coke.

They could avoid the stigma by not having guys cut cry baby promos and simply mention "This guy has been a champion/threat in every promotion he's been in.
