What deserved or came closest to being a 5 star match?
Roode/Storm with King Mo as the ref has to be up there for me.

Triple X vs AMW in the cage match is close for me. That bump killed Elix Skipper's career

Triple X vs AMW in the cage match is close for me. I actually think that one is 5*. Also, along with the ones mentioned, I think that the AJ/Joe/Daniels match from Turning Point 2009 is close to 5*, I'd say 4 3/4*.

Sacrifice 2005 has an AWESOME Joe-AJ match that is often overlooked by the Turning Point match and the Triple-threat with Daniels, both in the same year, but that match kicked all kinds of ass.
Kaz vs Christian in the ladder match at Genesis 2007 is phenomenal, and should've created a start for TNA, with Kaz. Everything in that match set Kaz up as a major player, but it never went anywhere.
You could also pick any of the matches in the Triangle series between the Wolves, The Hardys, and Team 3D -- that series is one of the best I've ever seen and made me look forward to Impact each week.

I'm partial to Abyss vs Sabu in a barb wired match. The match told a great story and this was before Abyss ruined his own gimmick and was still regarded as a monster.

Sabin vs Styles vs Williams - Ultimate X at Final Resolution 2005 Most of the LAX vs Styles/Daniels matches in 2006

Sabin vs Styles vs Williams - Ultimate X at Final Resolution 2005 Most of the LAX vs Styles/Daniels matches in 2006 Yeah, the LAX vs. Styles/Daniels cage match that year was one of TNA's best, largely because everything about it felt big and epic, including just the act of each team entering. I honestly think that's a big reason why TNA hasn't had more five-star type matches over the years: their pacing, the way they'd have Tenay and West commentate over everything, and a lot of the work by their road agents never seemed to give matches room to breathe and be something special, so something that was truly great rarely felt like it was getting time to sink in and leave an impression on the audience that could go beyond "this is awesome" chants or something. But those LAX vs. Styles/Daniels matches and the '09 Angle/Joe title match managed to generate the "big fight feel" that TNA should've been aiming for so much more often over the years.

Total Nonstop Deletion was a 20 star match. /kidding
Really though, there are so many good matches in TNA's history so many could be listed.
AJ vs Angle (there were two good ppv matches)
Lockdown Team Angle vs Team Cage (I've watched this match so many times)
Lockdown 2005 Styles vs Abyss

The match to crown the first ever X Division Champ in 2002. It was a marathon match between various X division wrestlers where you would get points by pins(if you're pinned 3 times you are eliminated). When someone gets pinned then someone else takes his place, etc...
The final was AJ Styles vs Jerry Lynn and these two could not get pinned and it was suddent death so it kept on and on without time limits. They threw everything at each other, it was like a war. Pretty much the finest wrestling match I've ever seen.
There was like a revenge match between the two where Lowki inserted himself that was also great.
My second favorite TNA match was Joe vs Angle in a cage in 08, which crowned Joe.
