Man, the Coen brothers have been on autopilot for a very long time now.
I bet this will be just like True Grit. A generally well made movie in and of itself, but not really giving us anything different than we got the first time...Or in this case the first or second time. Maybe some whacky comedy to lighten the mood?
And I like how the article says it's a remake of the Pacino movie. I guess the Howard Hawks version just doesn't grab today's audience the same way.

Javier Bardem makes the most sense to me. I thought of him too, especially after No Country For Old Men, but I think his size goes against him - he's too imposing, you'd want someone average sized who doesn't look threatening but turns out to be a badass. Remember, this Hollywood, where Tom Cruise is made to look 6 feet tall. I think they can shave a few inches of off Javier, if need be.

Wonder how they fit in all of their usual actors into this. Who will Clooney play? Robert Loggia's character most likely.

How about Michael Bolton as Tony Montana?

I hate scarface, but I'm intrigued to see the Cohen brothers take on it. As long as they don't get some hammy actor to do a terrible accent, I'm good.

Call me an idiot, but wasn't the original Scarface about Al Capone? I don't think the 83 Scarface was a remake, just a movie with the same title.

You would be wrong it was absolutely a remake, for instance "The World is Yours" is a RIGHT out of the original movie. The original was not about Al Capone. Though that is where they got the idea for Scarface (Capone did have a scar on his face that he allegedly got in the same way that Tony did) but it wasn't about him.

Hey yo, how many people came here to work for Frank Lopez? Okay, kill those people. How many people came here to work for Scarface? One more for the bad guy!

I saw Hail Caesar...killed all my future interest in Coen brother projects. Yep. That was the final straw for me as well. What a complete waste of talent for that garbage.
