I knew Josh was a jerk on Twitter, but seeing his feed recently is telling me that his true self is coming out and is becoming quite toxic. I don't know if he's getting fired or not, but after picking fights with Borash, Penzer, Shark Boy and his recent ego trip of him being the best announcer of all time is making me want to find a way to hire someone to drop a light on his head when the next set of tapings happen. Well like a poster before said, we could try to find a way that Josh insults Haku on twitter, and then send him the tweets Careful, that might turn Haku against us for making a mockery of his free time. Best not risk it.

I have no problem with Josh's original quote: "I make no bones about it, that I think I'm the best play-by-play announcer in the world, there's nobody that can touch what I do out there."
I mean, it's clearly just his opinion. Everyone is allowed to have one, no matter how wrong it is. I can respect someone for having that kind of self-confidence. However, him doubling down on that statement and calling himself the G.O.A.T. is pushing it. I thought at first he's just working everyone and playing up a character, but the more he blocks people with dissenting opinions the more I think he's just a tool who really believes his shit don't stink.
Shark Boy got a follow from me for his antics. His tweets are hilarious.

Suffice to say, this didn't last long. Either Josh is screwing with us, or he has truly lost his mind. I actually had trouble picking only a few tweets to embed here. Seriously, his account is bordering on madness. In another post, he asked, "Besides me, who would be on your Mt. Rushmore of wrestling announcers?" Also, I finally figured out that the little icon beside his name is supposed to be a goat. Or in his mind, GOAT. As in, Greatest Of All Time. He's got a real bad case of 45th-itis.

Josh Matthews is clearly trying to work everyone to the point it's blatantly obvious but the question is why? From a business perspective is Josh going to compete in a match? Not likely. Is Josh being a prick going to lead to me tuning into TNA? No. Will people pay to come and see Matthews be a prick on live events? No.
If anything it turns the Anti-TNA guys off TNA even more and it turns the pro-TNA people away from Matthews who is being an absolute plum on Twitter. It's lose-lose and I know that as a fan, how can't Matthews know it's lose-lose after 15-16 years in the business?
I'm all for bringing Tenay back also.

Tony Shiavone on his worst possible day is 100 times better than Josh Matthews will ever hope to be.

If I was a talent I would be scared to let Josh call my matches. I can't trust him to not bury people in order to get himself over. If I was considering to re sign with tna I would demand that he isn't part of the company

Josh should listen to his performances on the ONO shows if he wants to know why his statement is truly asinine.

This week, Josh proved that the only thing he's good at is making himself look like a stupid idiot.

that gorilla one is gold! That one's my favorite thus far. I even got a Like from Shark Boy when I said that I loved how savage it was.

It's lose-lose and I know that as a fan, how can't Matthews know it's lose-lose after 15-16 years in the business? The problem there is that the one blind spot every single person in wrestling has is that they truly believe there's no such thing as "bad heat". To a wrestler, the best heel in human history was X-Pac in 2001 in the nadir of X-Pac Heat, solely because the crowd booed him out of the building week in and week out despite him being a face. Go-Away Heat doesn't exist, any boo is heel heat and proof they're awesome. Instead of being lose-lose, Mathews probably truly believes he's the best heel in the business because of how hated he is right now.

If there was any doubt about how bad Josh is on Impact he got put in his place by his own wife. Madison and Pope were the main ones on commentary and Josh was off to the sides knowing his place with only an occasionally shill when this memorable situation happened.
Pope: That's a very good point you made Maddie.
Josh: Hey can I make a point please. (high pitched)
Madison: Well Josh you could if you had one but you don't.
Dude was verbally emasculated by his wife on air.
She said something else about him a little later but I couldn't understand her but Pope was laughing at it.

As a devil's advocate here: Correction: He's an announcer...who was very famously trained to be a wrestler on Tough Enough. As such, there IS more of a feasible chance that even if Mathews was the best heel in the business (he's not), he COULD conceivably wrestle a match where the babyface finally got their hands on him. (He doesn't have to wrestle every week- just every so often, just enough for the hero to get their hands on them once in a blue moon and pay off with some comeuppance.)

Sure but his tweets aren't drawing in casual fans and TNA doesn't sell tickets so there would be no pay off from it at all. TNA needs to focus on stuff like getting House Shows, doing good PPV buys, pumping up TV ratings instead of Josh Matthews heel announcer.
