I really don't care what people say. It takes more than one player to win a Super Bowl. That said in my book, Peyton Manning is that dude. Playoff contrarian haters be damned. Brady is hurt. Pats play Cassell. They still go 11-5 and 4-0 with Garrapolo. Manning is hurt, Colts a mainstay in the playoffs, shit the bed and get the number one pick. Manning goes to Denver, they instantly became title contenders and went to the Superbowl. Now I'd rather have the rings, who wouldn't BUT the man with the superior skill set? I still have to go with Manning. That 11-5 was 5 fewer wins than they had the previous year with Brady playing.
They went 2-0 with Garrapolo.
As a Patriots fan growing up in this era, Manning scared me more than any other QB. Seemed like when he was having a "bad" game his stat line usually wound up 3 TD 2 INT 335. And those are his bad games.

Steve Young needs more love on this list. He needs to be at least in the conversation. Especially if Bradshaw and Aikman are here.

Bottom line......Brady is gonna be higher on the Top QBs list than Manning. Heck, Manning may not be in the Top 5 all time because he couldn't get it done more often than not...when the team needed him the most. Heck, if you want to go there, you can scratch out that second ring Manning won from his resume because he really wasn't needed for that Super Bowl to happen considering how terrible he was that season. Brady was clutch in all five of his Super Bowl wins and he wasn't even terrible in his two losses.

I get the ring argument I really do, but Peyton demonstrated Gretzky like dominance

That is only getting that last two because Brady has issues in Denver and NOT Manning beat him in Gretzky like dominance. But if you want to go overall (counting the damn regular season)....Brady is 11 - 6 against Peyton, which is more Gretzky like than 3-2.

Manning got the ball down the field like no other And somebody will be better than him at that in 5 (maybe 6 years, 10 years at the most) as football gets more offensive and pass heavy. It's gonna be a while before a QB gets to as many Super Bowls (7) or wins as many Super Bowls (5) as Brady. And he did all of that while Manning was also there. And those impossibilities are truly why Wayne Gretzky is the Great One. And I also don't mean to trash Manning's stats as they are great. But Marino's were and almost everyone said Montana was better. Same thing with Brett Favre, who Manning mostly passed in those stats.

If the league in the 80's changed the level at how protected the quarterback was, there's no doubt that Marino could've been the guy who won 5 Super Bowls.
It's no wonder when they started changing the rules of the game that all the sudden these records that Marino had for years start getting taken down left and right. He's probably my pick in terms of just playing the game right without BS to assist you.

Grant you the numbers but thats more of a product of throwing the ball all the time, and i dont think the Dolphins sniff another Super Bowl either way.
