According to his book Strongbow and Mr. Fuji sabotaged his chance. He even said he ran into Hogan as he was leaving the building angry. I read a PDF version of his book. And while it was okay..I don't think it's worth owning. He definitely contributed a TON to the business, but the book at times came off as sour or simple. I'd say it's worth a read for any fan of his work, but for the most part it doesn't shed much light on what hasn't already been said. With that, it's a damn shame he retired when he did. I think he could've fit in well in the early to mid 90's. See, I'd say that it's easily one of my favorite wrestling books.

The pdf is a leaked version of his first draft and not the final copy that he was proud of.

I keep trying to get a chance to meet Heenan. But I don't think that will happen. Was so happy to not only get to meet Jimmy Hart last Labor Day weekend, but got a bit of advice from him. Also learned why he calls everyone baby. He is like me he remembers faces but is horrible at remembering names. Jimmy is great. One of those guys every wrestling fan should get to meet. I've been lucky enough to meet some guys that are no longer with us. I had dinner with Akbar about a week before he died. I had made plans to talk shop with Hump and didn't get to do it the last time I saw him. I met Percy a couple of times but purely as a fan. One of those was spent listening to him and my dad (a grave digger) talk about vaults and caskets. I won't lie, when I went downstairs at the hotel to meet Heenan, I got chills when I saw him in the lobby. I did mention to Percy what field I use to work in,I worked in a morgue for most of my adult life, and he just laughed and said "Good man. You know where the easy work is that pays well." But yeah outside Percy lets see who all I met that has died. Stan Tiny Frazier(Uncle Elmer)-Was from the town next to where I grew up. And Tiny had a shoe store in town for years. Plus ran GCCW for a bit in that area. Viscera-About 8 months before he passed he worked for one of the local indie feds. Was a bit shocked when I learned him and I were almost the same age.

And one I will own a physical copy of one day.
