What do you think they're going to do for the MMA and Kickboxers? Correct me if I'm mistaken, but MMA's not exactly hopping in Japan like it once was, so maybe faux-UFC dudes instead?

From what I've seen there's only going to be 30 default wrestlers in this so there maybe only a handful of MMA guys, Conor McGregor in Fire Pro form would be pretty cool
It's been confirmed the One Winged Angel's in this game too

I'm thrilled that this is happening. I think this game is way too timing oriented though for online to work, those grapples literally come down to milliseconds. Agreed. Skeptical how the game will play online. Truthfully I don't think online multiplayer is something anyone in the community ever highly coveted. We all just wanted ease of sharing created edits, logos, rings, etc.

A. Budgets are a thing. Better graphics costs more money & FPW isn't a high enough seller to make back the costs. B. Gameplay> Graphics. The WWE games have been shitted upon for years while fans still praise FPW's design. C. Sheer, massive quantity of Wrestlers. Returns had 300+ in-game & save slots for an additional 500. The WWE games released during those days were more like 60 & 30 respectively. Sure more recent games have increased the numbers that's at least partly due to advancing tech in disc & hard drive capacities & they're still from reaching Returns. A new FPW game released on modern consoles & PC could have damn near limitless CAW slots. See, the gameplay is honestly my biggest problem. Everything about the gameplay feels completely clunky and borderline unplayable. Just trying to run the ropes is a challenge. And I understand about budgets and such, but...honestly, independent developers put out better looking and better playing games than this one all the time, and there is no way they are working with bigger budgets. Given that they don't pay any licensing fees for real wrestlers, they either have a budget of about $26 bucks, or they are just too lazy to do anything new. Someone else said something about "might not bring in any new fans, and maybe it shouldn't", which is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. How is it possible that a game being more financially and commercially successful would be deemed as a negative? Maybe then they could update the graphics and have a camera that moves and allows for a more playable game. As it is, it seems to me that people spend money on these games to create wrestlers and then simulate matches which is just...bizarre. Please no one take this as an attack on the game or it's fans. I am legitimately trying to understand what it is about these games that makes them so loved, especially since one of the biggest knocks I see on long running series is a lack of development, but that seems to be exactly what makes this one so beloved. And it is literally the only game I have ever seen that it seems the majority of people who own it don't actually play the game... I hate to do this, but Im going full Cornette "To those that get it, no explanation is necessary. To those that don't? No explanation will do. " I found Fire Pro in 1997 when I imported FPS: 6men Scramble for the Saturn. I had heard about the series on the internet and was mystified by the idea that a game could offer such deep customization. The gameplay took ALOT of getting used to, but one day it clicked. And then it became the most beautiful interpretation of pro wrestling in a video game Id ever experienced. You had a dream roster of anyone you could imagine at the time, plus you could create guys and not only make them look like they belonged in that theater, you could edit their logic so they wrestled like the real deal when playing the computer. WWF Warzone got completely blown out of the water. There was no going back, although I absolutely adore the AKI N64 games, especially VPW64 and VPW 2, they were the closest thing to 3D Fire Pro. The graphics are SNESish sure, but to me thats a plus. Its cartoonish and enables Suspension of disbelief when your custom edit is banging around with Harley Race and Bruiser Brody. Why do people work so hard on making edits and them get their jollies by watching them fight in simulation? Well sir, its like watching a child grow. You can put some serious hours into editing a guy, and I ain't talking appearances. You create an AI and then test him, go back and tweak, test again, tweak some more, and repeat. One of the best Edit packs ever put out by the legendary DJKM was his templates pack for FPR. He had all kinds of styles represented, 90s entertainer, 70s territory heel, 80s/90s luchador, brawler, hardcore, JPN technician. And the beauty of the templates was in the movesets and AI he created. You tweaked it to your liking to fit the idea you had in your head when making a performer. It made making Edits accessible to the, well for lack of a better term, the masses. Fire Pro will never look like WWE2KXX and thats fine, because in the end it is far deeper then anything they can offer. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Fire Pro gives you a blank canvas, a pallet, and lets you paint your own masterpiece.

As odd as it may sound to many people the simple graphics allow deeper customization of individual wrestlers. When I see good FPW edits, you can name that wrestler from a mile away, its kind of amazing how good that editor can be.
Not to mention the logic editor that is completely insane when done right

The only biggest downside to only 30 guys is that we're going to miss out on the awesome fake names for wrestlers. It was such a pain changing everyone back, but I'm gonna miss the days of Raven Gush and Crazy Rose, The OUTLAWS, Spirals Andy, and Giant Rozhmov.

I'm rather shocked that no one from the Japanese promotions will be in the game under the fake names this time if this is true.

Whether or not it's fully succeeded- it is just enough that if you want to really get modern-day rosters for all the biggest promotions down pat, you NEED the ability to create female wrestlers- and all signs we're seeing would have the question mark if there even are women in the game or the ability to create them.

I honestly doubt they'll leave women wrestlers out of the mix. Joshi is still important in puroresu, and I don't think they'll leave them off to the side. There's also so many pieces in the game, even if the game doesn't ship with any women on the roster, I'm sure we'll be able to create women in the game. I have wondered something. Is the 30 wrestlers what they plan for the final game, or could 30 be what's in early access on Steam?

It'll also be interesting it that was the case as well, since there'd be the same possible benefit to some: If there are women in the game, but they have to be created, that'd inherently guarantee there's intergender matches in the game (since the AI wouldn't see a difference between any sprites.)

Well, there are intergender matches regardless. The series has always been like that. WWE seems to be the only company concerned with that being an issue.

Ah wait, so is this coming out on PS4 outside of Japan?
Because I keep telling myself I don't want to fiddle with PC stuff for one game but this game tho...
