May I please ask for a few opinions on this game?
I spent a decade escaping into WWE games (and tried a few others) but fell out because the gameplay was just too disjointed with repetitious and unsightly reversal animations.
As I was the sort to enjoy pouring over and tweaking movesets, I've always had an eye on the famed level of depth in Fire Pro Wrestling. I even find the arcade graphics charming.
However, there's one main thing that's kept me away and probably seems picky, but... it's the lock-up animation before every grapple. I know it's only 2 seconds, but seeing that before every grapple really interrupts the flow of the action. I gather it serves a mechanical purpose in determining timing of whose and which grapple follows - and so there's likely no option to disable it - but... does seeing this interrupting animation so often, not bother anyone else?
Can you imagine if an actual match had a lock-up before every grapple?

The grapple animation is something that's so ingrained into my mindset with Fire Pro, that it doesn't even bother me.

When the hell is this thing getting a switch port? I want a halfway wrestling game on it already! Probably never unfortunately. It bombed on the PS4 and kinda squashed any plans for possible expansion

Bleh, they charged way too for it on PS4 & it probably would've sold better on Switch anyway.

It probably would have but they’re rightfuy skittish about sinking money into a port when it could be another flop. Its a real shame

Its a real shame And the big problem here is that Spike Chunsoft is a smaller developer. They can't really afford to have flops in their own IPs, and even when they make money they usually don't make that much money, just enough to go on and keep on making a few more games. It's no wonder they mostly make contracted work for Bandai Namco, Atlus or Nintendo and when they strike on something relatevely hot (say Danganronpa or Mystery Dungeon series) they tend to churn out sequels and side games rather quickly.

There is a mod to get rid of it. Oh, no kidding? I guess that'd only work on a PC and not PS4?

The best speculation as to why a switch port won’t happen is the crux of Fire Pro World is downloading other user created wrestlers. Old Fire Pro games came loaded with hundreds of premade real life wrestlers, this one comes with 30 and they really are just generic wrestlers. So my point is, the Switch doesn’t have an infrastructure in place to allow players to trade content.
And at that point you would be trying to sell a game where you have to make everything yourself. That would definitely flop hard.

Im not crazy about the price, $19.99 if you're not aware, but this is an absolute purchase.
I would love to see further collaborations with other companies.
