but then you found out most everybody else hated them?
For me, it's Final Fantasy VIII. When I was a kid, this game blew my mind and I (and my friends) thought it was the best thing ever. But when I finally went onto the internet, I saw a lot of people hated it and I couldn't believe it.
Another is Bioshock Infinite. I saw all the reviews when it came out and they said it was amazing, but I didn't actually play the game until it was on PS Plus. Anyway, I played it and I loved it and I agreed with the reviewers that it was amazing. Then I noticed on most gaming forums that it's absolutely hated by most people. Oh, well.

Bioshock Infinite is hated? Why? Or is it another case of Bioshock fans proclaiming everything but the first game as shit?

ET on the Atari.
Now yeah I grew up in a rural area. So like 20 of the 100 or so boys ages 5 thru 10 had an Atari. But we all had it and enjoyed it. It wasn't until 97 and I got online that I found out it was so hated.I still fire it up a few times a year and play it.
But then I had no idea the Swordquest games were hated and same with Atari 2600 Pac-man. Sure not many of my friends had teh Swordquest games. But the ones that did or borrowed it them from me liked them.

Bioshock Infinite is hated?
I thought it was a great game. My only complaint was the generic standard enemies who were basically just Columbia's police/militia. I think it would have been better with something more out there like Bioshock had the splicers. Other than that though, awesome game. I especially liked the reveal of Columbia not been the nice place it first appeared.

For what it's worth, I thought Bioshock Infinite was pretty bland. Visually impressive, but it played like a pretty average FPS.
Anyway, Heavy Rain was this for me at first. Maybe it helped I went in completely blind, but I thought it was pretty decent on my first playthrough. Looking back, I can totally understand why I was wrong, but still.

Dynasty Warriors.
Same game every time? It's more different than COD every year.

Deadly Towers for NES. I was very young when I got this game and compared to my other NES games it was hard for me to figure out. I ended up drawing up my own maps to keep track of how to get around in the game. It was fun at the time. I ended up beating it and the ending wasn't great but I was happy that I made it through it. I wouldn't have the patience for it now.

Some people have given True Crime NYC some flack given its bugs and other issues. However, gameplay-wise the game actually had neat features, although I wish that some of the stores were marked on the map. Also, the game had a good story to go with it.
For all of its flaws and problems, I thought that Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance was not as bad as I thought it was when I first played it many years ago. Yes, I regret paying full price for it back in 2005, but after buying it again a couple of months ago, it's really not a terrible game. Though the loading times were a pain and some parts of the graphics could have been better.

Altered Beast on the Sega Mega Drive
It's only in the past 5 years that I've learnt about the hatred for it. I watch a lot of video game reviews and worst video game lists on youtube, and I started to see one reviewer after another include it in their videos. At first I thought "look at this idiot who thinks that Altered Beast is crap"...but eventually it dawned on me that I am in the minority on this one and I might actually be the idiot!

I'm a Bioshock fan in general, but I loved Infinite. The villains were downright horrifying, the gameplay was strong and the cast was engaging for the most part.

Not hate but I was surprised when I saw a lot of people considered Bioshock 2 so much worse than one.
Loved the game and I like more than the first one.

Perfect Dark, Sonic Adventure, and Super Paper Mario. None of those are hated At worst Sonic Adventure gets "It's not aged well, but still decent"
