You've not mentioned enjoying Fate Stay Night, so don't worry about being the worst. Also, I feel that it helps watching Cowoy Bebop twice. The first time is it trying to match the hype (Was for me anyway), second time is when you can enjoy it for what it is. I think I've tried to watch Fate/Stay Night at least 10 times. I've never made it all the way through the first episode. It's freaking boring to me. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!? I've legit seen people (myself included) fall asleep during the first couple of episodes. That's a special kind of boring to pull that off. I have you all beat. I like dubs. I tend to watch dubs more unless they are REALLY BAD. Watamote for example where Tomoko (The mc) sounds like a damn chipmunk.

I have you all beat. I like dubs. Chrno Crusade (no relation to the RPG) is actually better dubbed, they use period slang. I was raised on "Adaptations" of anime (Speed Racer, Battle of the Planets, Robotech) so now I want subs so I know what's really going on

Don't feel bad. I just watched Ghost in the Shell for the first time and hated it. So that's a double whammy for me. I haven't seen the movie, but my experience with Stand Alone Complex is there are times I like it but mostly I just find it incredibly boring. I have you all beat. I like dubs. I generally try and watch dubs rather than subs, mostly due to convenience. The only shows I'm a sub snob on are Haruhi Suzumiya and Watamote, both mostly for the same reason of the English voices just not fitting the characters. Especially Kyon.

I don't know exactly when I actually got around to watching Cowboy Bebop, but it was within the last five years...and I've been watching anime since I was a kid.
I also watch the vast majority of anime dubbed.

I guess I'm the worst, because I've still never seen it.

I have you all beat. I like dubs. Some dubs I prefer over Subs. Dragonball Z being main example Ditto The bigger argument, Funi or Blu Ocean? As for me - I hate "Attack On Titan" (sorry) - I was annoyed "The Devil Is a Part-Timer!" only has 13 episodes - I'm not all that fond of current Anime, I adore ones from 80's/90's

It's rather simple really: shit goes to hell FAST and there's almost no time to breathe in the first 12 episodes with people barely surviving left and right (also that animation, especially in conveying the freedom of movement of the characters, is extraordinary), so at least during that period, it's almost "can't miss" as any anime ever. The problem with that being, when it does give you time to breathe its ugly heads start to show up: barely any non-sociopathic characters (and those that exist usually tend to not last long); lack of actual plot; WAY too much explanation going on; people doing stupid shit left and right; barely any character development; way too many plot threads, barely any meat to any of them (even in the manga); the writing isn't that good.

I have trouble getting into AOT the same reason I don't bother with Walking Dead (Other than I hate the zombie genre and wish it would just disappear) and how GOT nearly lost me after the debacle that was S5 Things have gone to hell in a handbasket and yet people are more concerned with screwing over others and sabotaging them for no reason than they get a kick out of it.

My whole thing with all three shows you mentioned is after they kill enough people I stop getting invested in characters because what's the point if their just gonna die anyway?

Yeah, I couldn't get into Attack on Titan. Too much screaming.
And I've always thought Ghost in the Shell was boring (the movie).

This is as good a place as any to post a recent observation I made about two particular shows. Which... They're both fairly old so screw it, just going to say - Madoka Magica and Future Diary have like the exact same structure plot-wise, right down to opening the same way, having the same later explanation for what actually happened in the opening, and having more or less the same ending.
And relating to the theme of the thread, of those two... Yeah, I know Madoka's a really heavily praised show with all kinds of thematic depth and stuff, and I do like it, but... Yeah, I prefer the big dumb action series that stole half its cast from Evangelion in this case. Madoka's good but I found it pretty overrated, and I've not really ever desired to watch the movie.

I'm a huge fan of Magical Girl anime and one of my friends thought it was funny to have me watch Madoka blind. Scarred. For. Life. I watch magical girl anime for the opposite of every thing Madoka is. And that rabbit thing is creepy AF. Madoka and Diabolik Lovers are why I don't go into anime blind ever.

Don't feel bad. I just watched Ghost in the Shell for the first time and hated it. So that's a double whammy for me. Well with things like the Matrix it's not as unique as it was when it came out... and if you are a fan of the manga like a friend of mine is you will probably hate the original OVA becuase of all the shit they left out. edit: also on the dubs vs. subs thing... it's different now for the most part (especially since 4kids is no longer around...) but I think most of the dub hate comes from the 80's and 90's because A LOT of those dubs were just absolutely god awful... either in mistranslations or the voices not fitting the characters or just flat out bad voice acting. Dubbed 90's anime was full of that.

In regards to subs vs dubs today it depends I can go with either or. I will usually watch a sub if they give the mc a whiney voice but dubs have come a long way and there are really good voice actors out there that are enjoyable to listen to.

I have you all beat. I like dubs. Some dubs I prefer over Subs. Dragonball Z being main example The dub of Gundam Wing is better than the original Japanese, to me. Yes, you have the infamous "WHAT!!" guy and his terrible acting, but you also have Brad Swaile doing a great job as Quatre, versus the Japanese Quatre sounding like a 9 year old girl while none of the other Gundam pilots sounded like that. Whether or not I can watch a dub kinda depends on what it is. Some stuff, like Azamanga Daoh, is just so Japanese that it seems weird watching it in English, whereas a lot of mech anime, etc, I don't usually mind dubs because it is one less thing to pay attention to during fights, etc.
