No way. If the symbiote doesn't attach to Peter first its simply not Venom. Sony just needs to let Marvel Studios handle all of the Spiderverse and call it a day.

Venom without Peter Parker is like Vicious without Spike, it can't be done. They are needed in order for it to work.

I mean, Sony could do the movie and it doesn't have to tie into some established movie universe. It happens in the comics all the time. DC has a TV Flash right now and a movie Flash in the works. Why not put Venom with a Spider-Man like Miles Morales? Lord knows the MCU isn't going to do anything with the character, except poach characters from the Ultimate universe when needed (I see you, Ganke/Leeds). Spider-Man doesn't have to be just Peter Parker. Marvel did an event called Spider-Verse that played with the idea of multiple Spider-* characters, some of whom weren't even the original Lee/Ditko creation.
None of this would change the fact that I'm not that interested in a Venom movie, because to me Eddie Brock as Venom is a relic of the edgelord period of comics that were the late 1980s/early 1990s, but the character still has a following, so why not do something that is not beholden to the creative limitations that a shared movie universe produces?

If they let Fleischer go with a hard R action/horror vibe and they let Hardy let the demons out with the acting I'll definitely be down for this one.
I don't really need it to be VENOM™ - I just want it to be a brutal flick. Like I said earlier in the thread I'd prefer the name "THE SYMBIOTE" because it sounds more menacing, but they gotta get the people who are less likely to give something new/original a chance into the theaters as well.

They also have to stick with the actual intellectual property otherwise they're in breach of contract. Fant4stic had to do reshoots because Simon Kinberg realized that the original cut barely resembled the FF at all. |
