My guess is he'll either be calling the Taker match, or is being brought in to sub for Mauro, because a Smackdown table of JBL, Otunga, and Phillips sounds like balls.

Taker has the pull to have JR call his final match.

They needed someone to call Curt Hawkins "Chad" in the Andre and talk about Bray winning the title at/in Hell in a Cell with Mauro gone.
I love JR and it'll be heart-warming to see him back.

And WM sucks just a bit more.
Anyway, more on the deal: . ALL TIME GREAT SIGNS NEW WWE DEAL, WILL APPEAR AT WRESTLEMANIA by Mike Johnson @ 6:09 PM on 3/31/2017
Fans will be hearing a familiar voice calling at least part of Wrestlemania 33, PWInsider.com has learned.
WWE has signed a new deal with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross that will commence will Ross returning this Sunday at Wrestlemania 33 to commentate Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar.
We are told that the deal will see Ross used in something of a Legends deal for material on the WWE Network, documentaries, etc. while occasionally appearing on WWE TV to commentate bouts post-Wrestlemania. How often Ross would appear on WWE television remains to be seen.
The new WWE deal would mean that Ross could not be involved the World of Sport revival when that series tapes its first episodes this May in Great Britain. Ross called the pilot on New Year's Eve last year and was involved with a lot of the creative and production. It appears that the possibility of Ross calling a series for ITV prompted the new WWE deal.
For those wondering about Ross calling New Japan on AXS TV, we are told that his status with that series would not change with this new WWE deal.
We are told that the new deal was offered and signed prior to the recent passing of Ross' wife Jan. One source stated the deal was done five weeks ago. Ross "retired" from WWE in September 2013 at the behest of the company. Since that time, he has had great success at re-making himself with a successful podcast, a series of One Man Shows and New Japan on AXS TV. Ross' autobiography will be released this October.
Ross has been making a number of appearances in Orlando over the course of the weekend and has live events on Saturday with special guests Tony Schivaone and Paul O'Brien and Sunday with Bruce Prichard and Jim Cornette.

I would have bet everything I have that they would bring him in for something at Mania.
Good on them, it's probably exactly what he needs, especially if Rock and Austin and others are there who they say it was an honor to have JR call their matches.

Recent tragic events not withstanding, his commentary work isn't really anything to write home about these days.

I think his work over the last decade plus is horrendous but I'm glad he'll be around familiar faces during a time like this.

That's cool that they're letting him commentate for like 2 minutes.

I honestly hope that with all he's gone through these past few weeks, especially if he's only coming back to call Taker's last match, they'll bring him down on-screen and the whole crowd gives him a standing ovation. He deserves it.

It will be an honor to hear him call a WWE match again. I will mark the hell out when I hear the drums roll for Oklahoma's fight song again.

I love JR. He's the voice of my teens as a wrestling fan. He was so good at his job that my buddy and I would mark out just over his commentary. I'm thrilled he's back.

So they're going to have JR come out to Boomer Sooner right before either Roman Reigns match or the Part Timer Circle Jerk in Orlando with a Wrestlemania crowd of diehards right after something awful happened to the mans family; and they don't think that the fans are going to just chant for JR throughout the match rather than invest in what he's out there to call?
Good luck with that one, boners

I just want to give the man a hug. For someone who has given me so much joy, I wish I could offer even a sliver of comfort.
