Where are the arcade games? The choice in sim games per sport? Why hasn't there been a boxing game in 6 years?
I feel old and sad

Co-sign, co-sign, co-sign.
NBA Street and NBA Ballers especially were a lot of fun.

I would love a more arcade style NFL game. I cannot learn this late in the game Madden's control scheme.
And I had one of the PS2 Rocky games, it was great. I would be all for an updated one.

As an XBox One owner, I'd just love to have a representative Major League Baseball series to play. I'm not asking for EA Sports to bring back MVP Baseball (actually, I am) but why can't we get something like The Show? Hell, why can't we get a baseball game? The MLB 2K series sucked, but at least it was something.
I also want EA Sports to do something, anything to freshen up the NHL franchise. People bag on the Madden series as nothing more than a $70 annual roster update, but that's the definition of EA's NHL game. They're obviously going by the theory of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," because NHL 17 looks, feels, and sounds exactly like NHL 09 that I was playing almost a decade ago.

Exclusive rights agreements were the end of Sports Games as we knew them. Particularly in regards to MLB & NFL.
MVP Baseball 2005 is still the measuring stick of baseball games as far I'm concerned, as was ESPN NFL 2K5 in the football department. When Madden became the only football game in town, the developers felt no need to change anything, Much with WWE, the lack of competition causes complacency, and the overall product just suffers as a result.

Back on topic, I used to enjoy NBA Jam back in the day.

I did buy NHL17 because Vladdy was the cover man. Itgs the smoothest hockey game I've played by far, although they did make the shootout harder this year. I played 15 and 16, but the last one I owned was 13 and it was atrocious and nowhere near 17. The game is tweaked over the years. Madden is way worse IMO at putting the same exact game in different boxes every year. It's not even close. To the op, Fight Night was awesome. But the problem is the sport itself has really stopped evolving in both names and subtleties. Throw Glovkin in those old games and bam, you've got exactly what they would put out today.

Same thing could be said for WWE games. Seems like there's been very little improvement over the last 10 years with the SD/WWE game. At least when different companies made different WWE games for the different consoles there was more variety.
There used to be a host of football/soccer games back in the day but now it's just PES/Fifa.

I would buy a new Fight Night if it's basically the same game... but with an actually GOOD training thing for the career mode, since every single one of them so far has been bullshit. Let me max out everything if I want without having to be uber god like with skillz and micromanaging, goddamn it!

I almost feel like what has killed modern sports gaming is just too much emphasize on graphics and not enough on game play or customizing. AI has especially gotten lazy. Towards the end of the NCAA series on the the 360/PS3, the AI would just blantantly cheat, the higher difficult it got. Their DB wouldn't even know what to do but somehow could pick it off every time. Too unrealistic and it feels like everything has to follow the same template as the previous games. No new innovations, no better directions, just all style and no substance.

Suddenly your entire team becomes inept and the other team morphs into 11 Hulks. But then I saw this years Superbowl and realized it happens in real life too. Can't blame programmers on that one.

At the same time...it shouldn't happen so much to the point where it feels like the AI knows every play you run. That was what I dispised about NCAA 12. Nothing worked bc the defense snuffed it out before I even snapped the ball. Its unrealistic.

How difficult would it be to replicate something like MVP 05? Easy to play with lots of options, easy to set difficulty in various ways so you never needed to feel you were out of your league.
Easy pitching and hitting dynamics. Easy to manage to be the GM and play.
Honestly when I stopped playing baseball games is when you basically needed to pull off a mortal kombat fatality to throw a pitch over the plate.

I'd rather Konami tried their hands at getting a western publisher to get a MLB license and port the Pro Yakyuu Spirits games to the west with both MLB and NPB licenses.

Where are the arcade games? The choice in sim games per sport? Why hasn't there been a boxing game in 6 years? I feel old and sad I say this as strictly an opinion and I'm not trying to rile anyone; Boxing isn't getting a game anytime soon, it is essentially a dying sport. MMA is faster and more marketable, I understand boxing has an unmatched nuisance to it but it's slow doesn't have a big name behind it. Let me explain, If I ask someone "What is the name of that mma cage fighting company?", 90 out 100 people are likely to say UFC and some might be able to name some of the fighters. Now if I ask "What's the name of that boxing promotion with Floyd Mayweather 10 out of 100 may know it if lucky and if I exclude Floyd few could name another boxer. On a personal level I could elaborate on the other issues I have with boxing these days.

How the hell you go from being a "simple" bball player to your best friend extorting you and eventually he dies. I'm like damn brotha I wanted to get my, my player some skills not feel like I am watching Passions. That pissed me off so much but I could not turn away
