Every wrestler AJ interacted with benefited creatively. It allowed them to show more personality. Big E was her co-conspirator when they hilariously set up Kaitlyn. Then they did that thing where AJ went crazy and Big E calmed her down by almost kissing her. The AJ/Kane thing could have been very interesting had they expanded upon it. I loved that moment when she skipped out to the ring dressed as Kane. Daniel Bryan's asshole boyfriend character was hilarious, and she even enchanted Punk for real. Even that big clumsy bastard Big Show became briefly entertaining when he tried to intentionally kill her in a pre-meditated collision. #AJAll

AJ Lee once put two former WWE champions through a table.

As great as Team Hell No/YES era Daniel Bryan is, his heel work in early 2012 is probably my favourite character of his. He was such an asshole boyfriend. Asshole boyfriend? AJ certainly didn't think so, just hear the way she describes him! youtu.be/8S_meCvlq2E?t=79

WWE must be thinking; "why did Punk have to take her away from us!?" I think they probably did. They would have been happy for her to stay given the amount of her merchandise they were selling.

AJ says in her book that she had permanent damage to her cervical spine, so she likely would've retired soon even if Punk hadn't left. Hopefully she could've worked a program with Bayley, Alexa and Sasha in particular though.

AJ vs Bayley would have been a great feud. I imagine they'd start off as friends, with Bayley praising AJ as an inspiration, which AJ grudgingly tolerates. Then eventually Bayley makes a fatal mistake and tells AJ that one day, she'd love to be Divas Champion too. AJ, understandably wanting to protect her baby, immediately decides that Bayley must die.

Honestly, given how WWE regarded women's wrestling at that time, the feud may have been over in about a month. I mean week by week in your terms not their antiquated ones my friend. Well, I'd start it with AJ in the ring holding her title, perhaps talking about a successful title defence, then you have Bayley's music hit. She comes down to the ring and is excited to see AJ. Bayley: "Oh my god, I cannot tell you how big an honour this is. To finally meet AJ Lee, the Divas Champion. You are my hero". AJ is a little taken aback, but reluctantly shakes her hand and says "It's....uh....nice to meet you too.....uh.... Bayley isn't it?". Bayley nods and goes for a hug. AJ pulls back a little as she thought that Bayley was trying to grab her title, but eventually hugs her, albeit with a semi-disgusted look on her face. ----------- AJ is backstage and Bayley shows up. She's a little too excited again. This time, she asks if AJ would do her the honour of teaming with her tonight against someone else. AJ sighs and says OK. They start the match and all seems to be going well. AJ hits a move and is about to pin the opponent, when suddenly Bayley wants to high-five. AJ rolls her eyes and does it, inadvertedly tagging in Bayley, who hits the Belly to Bayley and gets the win. AJ isn't pleased, but gets over it. She picks up her title, but the other tag team opponent cheap shots her and she drops her belt. As AJ struggles to get to her feet, Bayley picks up the belt to hand it to her. AJ eventually sees Bayley holding her belt and angrily snatches it from her. Bayley pleads her innocence. She was only helping. AJ looks at her suspiciously, as Bayley hugs her again. This time, AJ's expression is sinister. ------------ Bayley is in the ring and wants to apologises to AJ. AJ's music hits. She walks to the ring slowly. Bayley says she didn't mean anything by what happened last week. She respects AJ and would never betray her. AJ isn't convinced. Bayley says that AJ is like a role model to her, and everyone needs a role model to admire. AJ looks smugly satisfied by this. Bayley says that even AJ had her heroes and points to the Titantron. She shows that video of AJ meeting Lita when AJ was a kid. When the video ends, AJ isn’t too pleased though. She’s a little embarrassed by the video. Bayley cringes and says “I didn’t mean to embarrass you, it’s just that...you inspire me as much as Lita inspired you” and goes for another hug, which AJ accepts, but she subtlety holds her title belt as far away as possible from Bayley. ----------- The following week, earlier in the day before Raw starts, AJ is at some sort of charity event, perhaps a promotional thing with a local school. She’s happily signing photos and autographs when suddenly she sees something that she doesn’t like. Bayley is also there, signing various things for little girls. AJ walks over to her and Bayley says hi. AJ asks what she’s doing there. Bayley says that she wants to set a good example for young girls, as one day, they might also want to become wrestlers. AJ thinks about it for a moment and seems OK with it. But then a little girl walks up to Bayley and asks her to sign something. It’s a replica of the WWE Divas Championship. Bayley takes it and signs it and takes a picture with the kid. The camera cuts to AJ who is looking at Bayley with an expression of pure murder. ---------- A week later, AJ shows up on Raw. She is shocked though to see Bayley backstage talking...to Lita! AJ stares coldly at them. Bayley notices AJ and says “oh my god, AJ isn’t it awesome? Lita is here!!!” AJ smiles and nods insincerely and walks over to Lita. Lita tells her how proud she is that AJ has accomplished so much. AJ says thanks and says that it’s good to see her. Lita says that she never would have thought that the little girl she met all those years ago would eventually become a champion in her own right. AJ says that’s great, but then passively-aggressively adds that the little girl is now a woman, and the best in the wrestling business. Lita feels a little uncomfortable but Bayley breaks the tension and asks if she can get a picture with AJ and Lita. Lita is happy to oblige and AJ does so reluctantly, giving Bayley some serious side-eye after the picture is taken. ----------- The next week, Bayley asks Lita if she’ll accompany her down to the ring for her match with someone. Lita says she’d be happy to and they head down to the ring, while AJ looks on unseen nearby. Bayley wins the match and celebrates with Lita. AJ’s music hits and she walks down to the ring with a big smile on her face. She gets into the ring and takes the mic. She’s about to say something to Bayley and Lita. AJ: “You know Lita, I just want to say something...” when suddenly, she drops the mic and slaps Lita right across the face before leaving abruptly. Lita holds her face and Bayley is stunned. ----------- A week later, AJ is in the ring. She seems remorseful and says that she owes Lita an apology. She hates herself for what she did and is very sorry. Bayley arrives and asks AJ why she would hit a woman who she idolised. AJ says that she felt Lita was a bigger fan of Bayley than she was of AJ and AJ couldn’t handle that. She couldn’t accept that her role model might actually like someone else. Bayley says that Lita would never feel that way and that while Lita does admire Bayley, she has always been proudest about AJ’s success. AJ nods and seems to be cool with that, but then Bayley says that just like AJ wanted to be a champion like Lita, Bayley would like to be a champion like AJ. This makes AJ paranoid. AJ: “What did you say?...Are you saying you want...MY title?”. Bayley says no. She wasn’t implying anything like that. She just means one day she would love to have the same kind of accomplishments as AJ. But AJ is beyond reason now, telling Bayley that the title belongs to her and no one else can have it. Bayley tries to calm AJ down and it seems to work. AJ cools down and gathers herself. Bayley hugs her again and AJ seems to be OK now. But as soon as the hug breaks and Bayley turns her back, AJ takes the Divas title and smashes Bayley over the head with it. AJ leaves a tearful Bayley on the mat as she’s attended to by paramedics. Later the announcers say that Bayley may have suffered serious injuries and has been taken to a local hospi...medical centre. ---------- After a few weeks, I’d have AJ taunting Bayley about her injury. I’d have Bayley come back and challenge AJ but she hasn’t been medically cleared. They could have a title match anyway, and Bayley could put up a gallant fight, only for AJ to screw her out of the title and get herself DQ’d by using the belt again as a weapon. Eventually after more taunting, AJ accepts another match with Bayley. It’s a close run thing but eventually Bayley gets the upper hand. AJ decides to get herself DQ’d again by using the belt, only for Lita to show up and take the belt away from her. AJ is incensed and distracted. She turns around only to walk into a Bayley-to-Belly and Bayley pins her clean, then celebrates her win with Lita as AJ goes apeshit in the aisle before entering into a catatonic state.

I've always loved AJ. I remember seeing a match with her on the WSU website where she won the tag belts and thinking that she had a lot of pure talent. Was delighted when WWE signed her and happy for all the success she achieved. Not sure why so many people here don't like her.

She seems like a nice girl, she was entertaining sometimes, but I don't really miss her.
I especially don't miss that weird summer where she was ALL OVER the shows. That got annoying quick. Cuz her character was entertaining in doses, but a little went a loooong way.

She stayed for a long time after and only worked a reduced schedule because of the neck/spine issues she was having. Does she say in the book if WWE knew ahead of time that she was leaving after Wrestlemania?

I love AJ, glad to see she's had some continued success.
I think she probably left at a decent time. There are a few matches I'd have liked to see, and she never got to wrestle Stephanie like she wanted to, but she had a good run and probably accomplished as much in that time as she realistically could have.
It's like when Molly Holly says she doesn't think she is underrated, that she got the belt, toys, got to be in the video games, etc, so she felt like she got to tick most every box available to her.

Does she say in the book if WWE knew ahead of time that she was leaving after Wrestlemania? Ditto with the 'she's phoning it in' talk during her final year, like there was no possible explanation for her being less agile in the ring other than 'she doesn't care anymore and just wants the money.' Continuing to work for the company that fired your husband on your wedding day whilst probably being in constant physical pain and getting more and more dirty looks and snide remarks backstage as the Punk/WWE situation worsened probably took more conviction than anything else in her career had to that point. If you didn't find her entertaining then fair enough, but all the trying to read between the lines to find evidence she's also a terrible person was troubling and very similar to what some people like to do with Punk. She could easily have left when he did but she held on for another year, possibly to prove a point as much as anything else. Nikki Bella worked a reduced schedule due to injury in her final run and bowed out with a Wrestlemania victory and didn't get half the shit for it that AJ did (nor should she have done, I'm just sayin').
