I didn't really mind the first Guardians of the Galaxy but now in this sequel it's really got this "All the PoC are ALIENS!~!" sci-fi cliche going on and you know what? No, I'm not ****ing seeing shit like that. . As far as I know, everybody but Peter Quill is an alien. And since when does this cliche exist? I'm unaware of this being the case. Stupid Sexy Ultron is referring to this, I believe. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumansAreWhiteLast year, for example, there were complaints about the last Star Trek movie given that Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella, two actors of colour, performed characters who could only be represented by being buried under layers of prosthetic make-up to the point that the actors underneath were pretty much unrecognizable (and in the case of Boutella, she was literally white-washed as Jaylah). In terms of GOTG, you have three people of colour who wear make-up and prosthetics in order to look alien (Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and Pom Klementieff) and another who is completely disembodied altogether (Vin Diesel). While Karen Gillen and Michael Rooker also wear make-up and prosthetics, the issue is really about the ways in which the idea of alien species have transposed onto them all the biases, assumptions, prejudices, and anxieties about skin colour, race, and racism, when the term 'alien' itself often is a stand-in for 'exotic' or 'different'.

He's a human that was mutated.

Which is true, but it doesn't actually address the problem that SSU has pointed out, as I have understood it, at least, which is to what the TV Tropes link I posted refers. Here's a different link about Star Trek Beyond that talks about the idea of how the bodies of people of colour are covered up and painted over in Hollywood movies when playing alien characters. I've copied the parts that I think are salient to the ideas about which SSU has expressed similar concern. www.entertainmentfuse.com/star-trek-beyond-racism-not-quite/

This is all news to me and I don't understand the issue. I swear it seems people just make up things to get angry about these days. Literally EVERYONE in GotG is an alien. This complaint makes no sense.

Ill likely see all of these at one point but Thor's the only one making me want to go to the theater.

Maybe they'll do a Spider-Verse one day with Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Maguire, Garfield, and the twenty other people who'll have been cast as Peter by the time they get to that point. Until then, not interested in Parker's steady journey backwards through puberty.
Meanwhile, Thor looks like an ridiculous Kirby-esque epic, with enough serious and comedy stuff to balance it out more than The Dark World, and Taika Waititi has enough of a good record that I'm really looking forward to it.

This complaint makes no sense. Baloney pretty much linked to a decent explanation. But anyway... 1.) The only way you'd know Quill was an alien is if you watched the first movie and paid close attention to particular lines here and there. It's not as if that were an important part of the first movie. 2.) Most importantly, if I were to just look at a movie poster featuring all the characters currently in the group...I mean, you know Peter Quill doesn't look anything like an alien compared to all the other people he rolls with. It's not even mentioned that he is in any of the trailers for the second movie either. ..and even if that were an important part of the movie, he's not green like Gamora and Drax. He's not sporting antennae. He's not a CGI monster. He doesn't even wear freaky contacts. C'mon man, there's literally no way you'd know he was an alien if you're just watching this movie cold or even haven't watched the first in a while.

They are, Gunn said he didn't want Rich Ryder in the movie for that explicit reason as it diminishes the only Earthling is Star-Lord dynamic. and even then they kinda hinted that Quill isn't all human either in the first one. Well,he is half-human

Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor are by far my top picks. I liked all of the Thor movies so far, this one definitely seems more upbeat and GotG looks like it will be another fun movie. Spiderman just depresses me, one of my favorite superheros growing up and they have completely killed my interest with the constant reboots. By now we should have already seen Maximum Carnage and once again we are back at the beginning. As far as Justice League, DC has been failing pretty badly lately, I will watch it if I hear otherwise.

I'm a little easier on Spider-Man than some of you are...as I think him + MCU proper = his true characterization. (neither Maguire nor Garfield hit upon EVERYTHING, IMO)

I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about GOTG 2. Baby Groot just seems too cutesy for me and Drax seems even stupider in the trailers than he was in the first movie. I just don't see it coming close to the magic of the first one.
I have a feeling that Raganrok is going to be unexpectedly awesome.

Much as I loved the first GotG, I'm really not feeling the sequel. In fact, I'm putting on my hypocrite hat, even though I constantly berate movie studios for stunt casting, the only thing that has me interested in GotG2 is incoming Kurt Russell and more Batista Drax.
Don't care about any of the Thor solo movies.
I'll probably get around to Homecoming when it hits the cable movie channels, but as of now, like many here, I'm not terribly exited for yet another Peter Parker go-around.
Justice League I'm at least curious enough to drag my bum to the cinema. If it's good, fun will be had. If it goes down in flames, I'll be watching it in style.

This complaint makes no sense. Seems like making the characters look like the characters is causing an SJW outcry. Was Gamora not supposed to be green? Should we drop Mantis' antennae? These goofs are also overlooking the fact that this series buried Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, and Lee Pace in pounds of makeup.

I hadn't realized Zoe Saldana was naturally green... You walked right into this one. (of course, not literally walked into it)

Spider-Man's the only one I for sure want to see, which is kind of ironic since I really liked the first Guardians of the Galaxy and the only Spidey movie I've particularly liked was Amazing 1. I dunno, GotG was great but kind of came away with it with no desire to see more of it.
Then there's Thor 3, which sounds promising but I didn't at all like Thor 2 so not really jumping up and down for it. Though Hulk being there does a lot to make me interested.
