Name some actors who still achieved success despite appearing in a few bombs before. One I can think of is Jamie Foxx, who before Ray, starred in some flops (Both commercially and critically) like Breakin' All The Rules, Held Up (I feel like I am among the few here who remembers this film, and it really wasn't good, either), and Bait (Same thing, except I never minded this film). It could be argued about Stealth, although while it was released AFTER Ray, I read that it was shot BEFORE that film. Then again, that really didn't do much for Josh Lucas's career while Jessica Biel didn't get fazed by it. However, Jamie Foxx had Collateral, which was a success, as well as Law-Abiding Citizen.
Any other examples?

Vinny Chase somehow got in on Scorsese's Gatsby and relaunched himself into superstardom after Medellin bombed tremendously.

Kevin Costner survived Play it To The Bone, Revenge, The Postman and Water World. Unless it's a movie of the same title, I don't think Costner was in play to the bone. I'm thinking of the boxing movie with woody harrelson and Antonio banderas

Matthew McConaughey was in a huge streak of underperformers to bombs, will small spots of gold keeping him going, then he became a mega serious actor.

Kurt Russell had a string of flops through the '80s, to the point where even he thought he was box office poison. The Thing, The Mean Season, Big Trouble in Little China, The Best of Times, The Winter People, and Tango & Cash all either bombed or severely underperformed at the box office.
The '90s were a lot better for him, though he still had some notable flops, in Captain Ron, Escape from L.A., and Soldier.

Keanu Reeves has a habit of following up hits with bizarre choices and flops. And vice versa. Dracula and Much ado About Nothing were followed by Little Buddha. Speed was followed by Johnny Mnemonic The Matrix was followed by The Replacements Chain Reaction and Feeling Minnesota were followed by The Devil's Advocate 47 Ronin was followed by John Wick. I'm just waiting for him to make this.

Most actors recover from flops if they are already established. In the case of Taylor Kitsch or Sam Worthington guys who aren't fully established with series of flops or under performing box office as the leading guy. You could argue Vin Diesel was one of them so he returned to The Fast and Furious franchise to reestablish his name instead of being an early 2000's pop culture trivia note. And even after getting back with the franchise all of his movies outside of it has been flops. Not counting Guardians since it's a voice role.

Eddie Murphy had a short comeback with Dreamgirls.
Stallone came back in a big way with Rambo, Rocky Balboa, The Expendabls, and Creed.
Leo came back after The Beach, Celebrity, and Man In The Iron Mask with Catch me if You Can, Avaiator, Departed, etc etc etc..
The Rock himself, maybe not flops, but definitely jumped a few levels with G.I Joe Retaliation and Fast 5.
Traviolta saved his career with Pulp Fiction at the time.

Matt Le Blanc went from starring in one of the most notorious TV flops to fronting the world's biggest car show.

I gotta stand in line just to shoot you!"

George Clooney did well after Batman and Robin. George's career did a lot better after Batman and Robin, the next year he did Out of sight and after that there was Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Ocean's 11 etc. My own pick would be Michael B. Jordan who recovered immediately from Fantastic 4 with Creed

Tom Hanks was pretty much known for comedy flops like Joe vs. the Volcano, Splash, and The Money Pit in the 80's. Then in the 90's he wins back-to-back Oscars (for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump), and can basically do no wrong.

That was also the first film that I saw Roselyn Sanchez.

Splash was a big hit both critically and financially and was even nominated for an Oscar in screenplay.
