I dunno, I would think Hip Hop Saved My Life would HAVE to be his biggest song, followed by Superstar, both off the Cool. That has to be his biggest album ever. I love his flow on Dumb It Down. I don't disagree with you there I meant as far as the numbers go. If I'm not mistaken Lasers was his first album to debut at number one I just looked it up, both albums sold around 500k. But, The Show Goes On is actually his biggest selling single, which is a no brainer, I just totally forgot about it.

Aerosmith. They're career went this so. Debut album. Even with two classics on it but it's just meh. Second album. Eh. Third album...now we're looking good. Excellent. Rocks is one of the best rock albums of the 70's. Then about 15 years of suck. 89 Pump comes out is awesome. All down hill from there. Their last album was just embarrassing. You didn't like Get A Grip or Nine Lives? Those are awesome albums I thought. I still have my version of Get A Grip where the album cover is actually furry cow print. They were good. I liked them but they're not great albums.

Eminem. Dropped three classics and it's been a whole lot of bullshit ever since.

Three 6 Mafia, their sound strayed away from that crunk "Tear da Club Up" type vibe and got more mainstream. Then the group became more or less just DJ Paul and Juicy J cause everyone else left (or was pushed away) over the years.
The Fugees, 1 classic album then they break up. They tried to come back but "Take it Easy" was subpar to put it nicely then the issues between group members reared their ugly heads again and the group was no more.

A lot of pop punk stuff from a decade ago. Some of those bands still make good music. Still fun live. I would've name dropped New Found Glory but they're last album was their worst by a mile

As much as I love her as a person and musician Patti Smith, Horses is (imo) the greatest debut album there will ever be so everything else would have a hard time living up. Still I geek out whenever she announces new music because I'm so in love with her voice no matter how many forgettable albums she's made

Morbid Angel are THE band that got me into death metal but they haven't made an album worth listening to since the mid 90s.

Slayer and Megadeth immediately come to mind. Neither band have put out anything worth a damn in years (I'd argue Megadeth has only had one great album in 'Rust in Peace'), but I'm still interested when they put out a new album. If you look at how bland and by the numbers both bands are now, it shouldn't be a surprise why Metallica ended up being the biggest of the big 4. They had the sense and the talent not to get in the mindset that every album had to sound a certain way. Because of that, there's always big interest around how each album is going to sound. With Megadeth and Slayer you more or less know what you're going to get before you even press play. I'd also put Anthrax ahead of Slayer and Megadeth when it comes to the Big 4 for the same reason: They usually sound fresh on each album. I wouldnt even bother to wipe my ass with megadeth or slayers last few albums, hell all of megadeths since the system has failed has been so f***ing average

As much as I love them The Who, if they were to announce a new album this very second I'd just say "Oh." and would listen to it whenever. It definitely wouldn't be a priority. But then, I almost exclusively only listen to Moon-era Who anyway.

Yeah, IMO they fell off with Just Push Play, though Honkin on Bobo is pretty good, and even the new album has a few killer tunes (Street Jesus, Beautiful) Also, they put on an AMAZING show. If you ever get a chance to see them, do so. They went from a dirty blues inspired band to pop-rock but didn't do it all at once , they slowly ebbed into it. I'll give them credit they managed to stay relevant for a long time and were able to go out on tour with a wide catalog where people didn't necessarily crap all over them when they played "newer" stuff.

I just imagine The Who broke up after Keith's death and everything after is Pete solo with contributions from Rodger and Entwistle No War and Eminence Front

I've never fully understood what happened with Pat Benatar. Between 1979 and around 1984-85, she was hitting it out of the park with great album after great album, huge single after huge single, with something like 12-15 songs hitting the Top 40 in the span of 6 years. And then nothing. I mean, she did some albums here and there afterward, but never got even close to that level again. Never really figured out what went wrong there. She started going in more of a pop direction, which turned off the fans of her more hard-rocking stuff (ie, Heartbreaker). Problem was, the pop fans could never really gravitate toward her either. Havent heard much of her post-80s material, but from what i've heard it's got more of a blues-rock sound, which is fine for what it is, but a far cry from the older stuff. Sounds kinda like what happened to Liz Phair. One amazing debut album, two OK follow ups and then she decided to go the pop route to the delight of no one.

They're all just boring and a chore to listen to. At this point I'd welcome an album from them that was a complete embarrassment because maybe then it would at least be fun to listen to/laugh at. I'd be all for forming some sort of committee and replacing Megadeth and Slayer in the Big 4 with Death Angel and Testament.

I liked them but they're not great albums. This raises an interesting question about what we're talking in this thread when we say "fell off". Because in terms of sales, Get a Grip and Nine Lives sold an assload of albums. If you wanna argue sound/style-wise, then that's subjective

I f***s with Lupe Fiasco and still do to this day in listening to these albums. His style was fire and different and I thought he was always going have some shit releasing but after the cool he just fell off. Lasers was okay but it wasn't touching his previous two albums and after lasers he was sort of done. Which artist you liked that sort of "fell off" If you have the time, I recommend listening to Tetsuo & Youth album he put out two years ago. A bit of return to form for Lupe that I think you'll appreciate. One of my favorite hip hop albums of 2015. I second Eminem. Along with Jay Z. After American Gangster, dude's hardly put anything interesting anymore. That song he did with Pusha T last year was flames tho but I'm not having my hopes up.

Eminem. Dropped three classics and it's been a whole lot of bullshit ever since. Sobriety and maturity took a toll on his style. I'm glad he cleaned up his act, but yeah. The older albums are way better.

You put him on a fire track and you're good but other then that don't expect much. He's good for a hook at this point

Iron Maiden. Their newer stuff is basically just prog-metal, complete with super-long songs (though I will admit that I enjoyed their newest album The Book Of Souls quite a bit, but I wish they'd go back to the style of albums like Piece of Mind).
