Hasn't Meltzer and co straight up said that Bryan wasn't gonna be in the main even initially?

I think he doesn't get in the title match, but he does face Triple H. That would be their way of satisfying the fans. Now where does that leave Punk? I'm not sure. Everyone else is locked in, Cena/Bray, Brock/Taker, etc. Maybe he gets the Sheamus match or wins the battle royal. If they decided to put Bryan in the main event, then things proceed as they were rumored, with Tri facing Punk. Just Bryan would earn the spot on Raw instead of doing double duty at Mania.

Punk taps out Triple H in a three way main event with Orton. The show ends with him hugging Alberto Del Rio in the center of the ring while crying.

Don't you listen to HHH and Steph? Daniel Bryan's journey to winning the title at WM was a meticulously planned storyline that they created and not a complete mess they managed to salvage at the last minute. For real though, you wanna bet Vince still had to be dragged kicking and screaming into giving Bryan the title even when it was changed to a triple threat? Those weeks before 'Mania were amazing in how it felt like the rest of the WWE were fighting against Vince to get him to put Bryan in the main event somehow to the point where the week of the Yes Movement protest in the ring was the first time the title match was brought up in that storyline. It wasn't even hinted at before that point. And I will always remember the crowd's reaction going from "good but accepting" to monsterous when Bryan said "Wait wait wait wait".

Probably not, and that Wrestlemania win Punk was offered over Triple H probably wouldn't have happened either, there'd be some reason Triple H needed to win as there always seems to be. The Bryan push happened because fans left them no choice, there was no 'Punk ends the authority' carrot to dangle to stave off rebellion. This. I'll believe Triple HGH has changed when I see it. Not only is Triple H's record at Wrestlemania 9-12, he's lost more matches at Mania than any other wrestler, and has lost five of his last seven Wrestlemania matches.

I suppose WWE could have stretched Wyatt vs. Bryan to Wrestlemania if Triple H vs. Punk were to have happened. Wyatt actually beat Bryan at the Royal Rumble, so have Bryan win the feud at Wrestlemania...? The only reason Wyatt even went over Bryan at the Rumble was to build him up for Cena. If Bray doesn't face Cena at WM, Bryan wins the feud at the Rumble and that's the end of it.

Wasn't Bryan gonna face Sheamus?

Wasn't Bryan gonna face Sheamus? That's been confirmed by many, including Bryan himself, as being the plan for him at least in the time before Punk left. It's possible that they still could have changed that based on the rejection of Batista after winning the Rumble if Punk didn't leave, but we'll never know that timeline.

Nah. He would have faced Sheamus. With Batista being rejected they probably would have had Punk cut another pipebomb type promo and done him/Hunter with the winner in the 30 main event. That way when Punk left when his deal was up later that year but they'd probably be on better terms.

Punk leaving was a trigger. Plans were in peril and things would have gotten worse for them. This defintely got their minds jogging and in it they realized this show was doomed as a disaster.

If Bray doesn't face Cena at WM, Bryan wins the feud at the Rumble and that's the end of it. Maybe? By the time Wyatt got to Cena, Wyatt's victory over Bryan felt like an afterthought, especially with the Shield/Wyatt Family shenanigans in the interim that shifted fan attention. So if that was WWE's plan, to build Wyatt up simply to feed him to Cena, it wasn't a very good one. Even then, more people seem to remember Bryan's beatdown of Wyatt in the cage at the end of Raw than any of the matches, so Wyatt's victory at the Royal Rumble feels moot twice over. At the very least, doing Wyatt and Bryan again, in which Bryan conclusively wins the feud, makes a lot more sense than doing Sheamus and Bryan again, which is what was penciled in before WWE shit the bed. I suppose, too, that doing Bryan/Wyatt means that Cena is left without an opponent for Wrestlemania 30.
