Cornette is a blow-hard with anger issues who's pissed off a lot of people but ultimately I don't think there's ever been assault charges laid on him. The usual level of vitriol he has for Russo--at least before all this stuff flared up again, I don't tend to follow Cornette for multiple reasons--is the same kind that he's shown for Kenny Omega doing comedy matches and Lucha Underground for not pretending wrestling is real. But he's not going to Young Bucks bookings with a loaded gun. He rages and screams and gets really red in the face but he's usually not jumping anybody. Russo knows this fact because he's worked with Cornette before and knows that he's prone to anger but ultimately harmless, and he's using Cornette's every angry response to make Cornette look worse and garner sympathy. Yeah pretty much, Russo is doing it for attention like literally EVERYTHING he does. Cornette is all bluster... the most violent I've ever heard him get is when he slapped Santino. Also I only listen to clips of Cornette's podcast for the same reason. If anything doesn't fall into his small niche of what wrestling should be it's terrible and the people responsible should be blackballed. I do like listening to some of his old wrestling stories though. I can't confirm it but allegedly he was charged for attempting to run over a guy that attacked Cornette's wife with pepper spray. I don't know if that case's information can be found online.

I don't remember the full story, but there was a promoter he freely admitted to attempting to run down with his car for trying to f*** him over repeatedly, given he had already been tried for it. It was during SMW, I don't really remember the specifics much. So yeah, odds are, Cornette isn't going to do anything, but I do think having a wife who can talk some sense into him is part of it. He's certainly got the anger problem.

Ok fine Mostly all bluster ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) But still the only reason VR keeps talking about Cornette is because he knows Cornette would respond. And that's all he really wants, people talking about him... he doesn't care if it's in a positive or negative light... he just wants attention.

At least it was worth it for Cornette's on-air realization that he gave Russo work with a VHS venture, long before he really knew who Russo was, and that he may have indirectly contributed to Russo even being a part of the wrestling business. You can practically hear his cerebral cortex melting.

The funniest thing is that by getting the protective order he killed the only thing giving him attention. I think Russo is the biggest failure in wrestling's history. He was a guy making high six figures and now he's reduced to being an internet troll in order to make a living. I would feel bad for him but then I remember his opinion on women, homosexuals, foreigners, and people from different ethnicities.

The (slightly) sad thing is that both guys have something to contribute to the business if both men realise it's not the 20th century anymore, audiences have changed and they realise that wrestling is a really entertaining niche, which isn't a bad thing with how popular niches can get. Heck, it's not even like nobody cares about pro wrestling anymore because someone just made a TV show about it.
But neither man will. And it leads to bullshit like this.
People were telling Meltzer that Russo would boost ratings and contribute anywhere. Which is obviously why he's booking for a small fed with no TV deal, obviously.

If Corny could be completely isolated from the booking side of things, he would be an asset to any promotion, the problem is he wants to run everything to his liking, audience be damned. Russo, I'm not sure he has anything to contribute at this point, he had ten years and a big budget to do it with WCW then TNA and he did nothing for either in the long run, at least with Corny you can make the case that had he not stepped in, Ring of Honor would most likely be WWE network filler content now.

Well, in regards to Cornette's anger becoming physical, there was the incident where he used a baseball bat to break all the glass in the car of former SMW employee KC O'Connor.
I think he's a little more grounded with age, but he's still going to rant and rave.

Not to be fair to Russo in any wya, but I do think Cornette is also blowing this out of proportion and trying to milk attention out of Russo, and is secretly so happy that Russo sent him a restraining order because he's going to ride this out to his own big interest bump too. Cornette's shit all over the Bucks before but then at an indy show the Bucks said that Jim was all gladhandy and acting like all their back and forth was just them "doing business". Dude definitely has genuine anger problems but he's also blowing that shit super out of proportion for the sake of wringing every cent he can out of Russo setting his sights on him, because his Russo shit propelled him to e-fame to begin with.
Which means it's two old dudes nobody thinks are relevant anymore having a fake screaming match at each other so they can both try and get people to pay attention to them. There are no winners here.

I don't think it's a work. Cornette claims that Russo undermined him and got Jim fired from tna, and based on that leaked email Russo send to Dixie Carter, I believe Jim that Russo in fact f***ed him over.

I don't mean the beef between them is a work. They really do hate each other and Jim wants nothing to do with a business relationship with Russo ever again after the shit he pulled with TNA. I do believe Jim genuinely loathes Vince Russo for everything he's done. I'm just saying that Cornette is still a f***ing carny and he's happily going to use Russo perking up to give him grief to pull in some attention too. He knows he can make money from this, and that prolonging the story is only going to get more attention to Russo too, but that keeps the cycle going. Never doubt that a man who in 2017 genuinely complains that companies don't slavishly follow kayfabe isn't as big a carny as anyone else.

All that either guy has to contribute to wrestling in 2017, IMO, are Old Man Yells At Cloud rants. If I had the money to fund a promotion, I'm ducking both of them like the plague. Cornette takes wrestling far too damn seriously and Russo doesn't respect wrestling at all. Both are behind the times, just in opposing ways.

Oh I agree completely, but there are aspects of how they work that would beneficial to business now, the getting people invested in the in ring portion portion and getting people invested in characters portion. There just needs to be more newer faces that can do that AND adapt to the business in 2017. And no, one of them isn't Billy Corgan.

I know Cornette understands that wrestling should be made important, but he's far too archaic in his approach- I wouldn't want him handling my wrestling cards. Russo does realize characters should be emphasized, but I don't want his style of character work anywhere near my talent.
