Start the countdown for when two Mikes become none.
Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg will share their names on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” for a last time on Friday, Nov. 17, the network announced Monday.
“Golic & [Trey] Wingo” — the spin-off morning show featuring zero personalities who will be branded as Mikes — will kick off on ESPN radio Nov. 27. Golic and Wingo will have a three-day trial run this week. Greenberg, meanwhile, will be off the air until Jan. 1, 2018, when his morning TV show will begin.
Late November appears to represent a slightly accelerated breakup for the radio duo, who have (mostly) enjoyed a nearly 18-year run together. Sports Illustrated reported in May that the show’s contractual end is in December — but insiders feared the split would come sooner as the two had had a falling out.
“It’s really a poisonous atmosphere right now,” one longtime ESPNer who has worked on the show told SI. “Most of us don’t see the show lasting through its contractual end. But I give both these guys immense credit because when the light comes on, you would not know what’s going on. They are pros on air.”
Greenberg and Golic disputed the report, with Greenberg telling The Post last month the longtime pals still text all the time. In the aftermath of the claims, both took Trumpian turns to shout about the leakers.
“We’ve been together a long time and we’ve had a very close-knit staff over the years. We’ve had people work with us, and most of them have been with us for years and years and years,” Greenberg said. “So, if there are people that are talking anonymously about us, then sure, that would bother me.”
“Mike & Mike” an odd couple mismatch with the jock former player and metrosexual media member, has been an ESPN force since 2000, and the two were inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2016. But Greenberg was intrigued by a solo TV show, and Golic was left on the outside. Golic said he was most incensed that the two couldn’t inform their audience of the parting, instead merely confirming it to listeners who already had read the news.
“I will treasure what [Golic] has done for me and what he has meant to me,” Greenberg said, “and he will continue to mean that to me for the rest of my life.”

Golic is thrown right back into the fire 10 days later for his show so hopefully it all works out. ESPN better hope Greeny show works because otherwise you can't go back to the previous route and you are just going to have to bite the bullet until you find a formula that works for the morning show
Edit: Now the Get Up thread for Mike Greenberg new show. Took a long time to finally happen so will see how the show does
