I read on Awful Announcing that Greenberg's show won't start until Spring 2018. I don't really follow the logic in that, you take him away from the show in November and then wait 4-5 months to debut his new show? In a time of year where only basketball and hockey are on? Look on the bright side, this means we'll probaly have a few more months of Wingo and Golic on ESPN2

So basically by the time this show gets off and running, it will be almost 2 years since we first started hearing rumors about the show itself. Greenberg doing Sportscenter AM is such a downgrade, he has his own show and now he's doing that while his show gets off the ground? Also, I can't emphasize enough, by the time this gets rolling it will almost be the dog days of sports...no football, hockey and basketball playoffs sure, and baseball is just starting. There's not much going on.

2 more days nypost.com/2017/11/15/mike-golic-nearly-retired-at-height-of-mike-mike-controversy/In the heat of the “Mike & Mike” breakup rumors earlier this year, Mike Golic considered retirement. Eighteen of Golic’s 22 years at ESPN were spent talking sports with one person, and before he knew what his next step would be, the radio veteran figured he’d go out as Mike Greenberg’s co-host. Now, he’s two weeks away from beginning the next chapter with partners Trey Wingo and Mike Golic Jr. on their weekday morning show, “Wingo & Golic.” “Until I found out it was Trey and Mike, maybe at the end of the deal, I just move on, head out to Arizona and retire,” Golic told The Post over the phone as he prepared for the final week of “Mike & Mike,” whose last show is Friday.

I really wanna place bets on how long Greenberg can survive on his own as the head of a show. Cause I feel like WAY more people want to watch Golic and Wingo

Wish I'd be able to watch Wingo and Golic, but I don't have ESPNNews/ESPNU

Cause I feel like WAY more people want to watch Golic and Wingo I've said it before and I'll say it again, Greeny only works in two scenarios: He can be a straight up newsman, or he can be a serious "nerdy" sports guy that requires a "toughman" sportsguy foil. Straight up Greenberg flying solo in a show that isn't just "news" is going to be intolerable over time. Might works well in 5-10 minute sessions, but an hour+ show of just Greeny? Bleh! Golic seems like the dude that will just adjust to whatever is thrown at him. I have zero worries about Golic. 5-10 years from now Golic will be the bigger name in sports media. And I'm not sure if I mean Golic SR or JR. Both maybe.

And that is it
The End of an Era, and potentially, the end of Mike Greenberg's career, cause Golic's gonna be fine.

Greenberg had a look of a sense of dread. I mean jumping into something that's completely new and fresh after doing the same show for 18 years will be a challenge but he had this look that's like...it's sink or swim. If he fails I don't think Golic will want to go back to doing Mike and Mike after the stunt Greenberg pulled so...that's a lot of pressure.

I tweeted a reply to Awful Announcing that ESPN should stop trying to make Greeny happen.
He's dead on arrival, while Golic has a steady future.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes. I can't stand Wingo (tries too hard) but Golic Jr. is surprisingly good. In the few times I've seen him on the show he's been more thoughtful and well-spoken than his dad.
As for the two "original" Mikes, I always felt Greenberg was better at his role than Golic, but don't know how that's going to translate to a full-time gig on Sportscenter. He'll likely just been an interchangeable news reader there.

I'm looking forward to Golic's new show with Wingo and the white guy horns theme song.

And they are sticking Jalen Rose and Michelle Beadle as Greeny co host on his new show. 2 people who try to hard and are just irritating in general They should have just done the Golics as their own radio show in my general. Trey Wingo is another person who tries too hard and talks way too much. Golic Jr has a bright future and no doubt best believe if Greeny show bust 5 years from now they will be trying to put him and Golic back togther

This is like the 5th time they've tried to do something with Greeny branching out from the Mike and Mike platform. I believe he's hosted 2 game shows, they tried to do some football shit in the afternoons with him and Golic, and they also tried to get the in the footall booth as well

Not necessarily high standards. Admittingly, I grew up with Golic. He hosted that syndicated sports blooper show, so I can relate to him way more than Greenberg.

The best thing about the new Greenberg show is that it gets Beadle out of SportsNation and she'll probably be replaced by Cari Champion. It's win/win.

Honestly wish they'd just have done Golic & Golic and kept them on ESPN2.
