Is this supposed to be a highly fictionalized version of what happened? Because I doubt Tommy Wisseau used a green screen for that roof top scene.

It's Tommy Wisseau. The fact that it was Seth Rogan and crew had me thinking they were messing around with facts. But I should have known better than to underestimate Wisseau being Wisseau.

Did Tommy work for WCW in the '90s? Because that sounds like the most WCW thing ever.

You just know some theater somewhere is going to run a double feature of The Disaster Artist and The Room. AND I WILL BE FIRST IN LINE TO SEE IT Hopefully the theater custodian will get a nice bonus for being forced to clean up the metric ton of plastic spoons left on the floor after each showing. If there's a scene where someone notices the spoon picture and tries to fix it, and Tommy insists it stay in there and bullshits up an artsy reason why, this movie's making $100 mil opening weekend.

Part of me kind of hopes there is no Disaster Artist movie and theaters nationwide end up screening The Room You just know some theater somewhere is going to run a double feature of The Disaster Artist and The Room. AND I WILL BE FIRST IN LINE TO SEE IT The Prince Charles Cinema in London's already showing Tommy's new film along with The Room in September. I'll bank on them making a play for a triple feature a couple of months after the film's out.

The crazy part is that if I recall correctly, Tommy Wiseau actually owns a building in San Francisco and could've shot on that roof without having to worry about permits or renting the place or anything like that. But no, he had to green-screen it in some parking lot.

Franco......doesn't seem to be doing much of that Tommy Wiseau voice. It still very much sounds like his own. Then again, that might be for the best, actually. I like that he's not hitting the accent hard, rather he not be a total cartoon.

Is this supposed to be a highly fictionalized version of what happened? Because I doubt Tommy Wisseau used a green screen for that roof top scene. He wanted to shoot in San Fran. He loves San Fran. He couldn't afford to shoot there, for whatever reason. As mentioned above, he apparently owns a bldg there and could shoot, but I suppose he must've thought (HOLD ON I'M GOING TO TRY AND RATIONALIZE TOMMY WISEAU FOR A SEC) if he couldn't shoot all of it there why shoot any of it? So he green screened the rooftop scenes so that they were San Fran. The same exact shots of San Fran, FYI. So throughout this film when we see the sky it's the same weather outside.

I just want to add that doing a green screen thing is actually pretty cheap and simple to do, so I see no reason why Wiseau wouldn't do it. Literally it is just subtracting the color from the frame and putting something else in its place. If you're already editing a movie, any editing software will do it.

Okay now I'm digging the voice. I really hope my local independant theater is going to be screening it when it arrives. They've been screening The Room the first Friday of every month for a little over then 5 years now. It's the same theater where I met Greg Sestro and saw him do the original script reading.
I'm excited

Greg Sistero: "The film's depiction of what it was like on set was eerily accurate."
It's still Hollywoodized for conventional storytelling and general audience's needs. But fans of The Room and Wiseau are going to eat it up regardless because, like most films of this type, It pushes all the right buttons to get over with as many people as possible all at once yet features an immense amount of movie "smark bait." As most of you all probably know, it's not just a snarky make-fun-of-Wiseau film; the film has drama-comedy legs.
I'm actually predicting a Golden Globe comedy actor nomination for Franco. Not that I would say it's the best Acting performance of the year by my standards, but I can really see it as part of the Golden Globes fanfare.

My concerns of his Wiseau voice is gone. He knocked it out of the park. Franco might be a dark horse canidate for an Academy Award

Someone is getting an Acting Academy Award nomination for sure. Hollywood loves films about LA & making films. Hollywood loves Biopics. Hollywood loves retro pieces and 2002-2003 was 15 years ago. Plus supposedly there's a shit load of actor cameo's playing as their selves reacting to the film.

Someone winning an Oscar for playing Tommy Wiseau absolutely needs to be something that happens. And Tommy bett r be in the audience when it happens.
