Put together a pretty decent career. I didn't know he's been here since 09" feels like only 3-4 years.

Everything he did for the Patriots was always under the radar. When the Patriots rallied back from a 24-14 deficit to beat Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX, a forgotten moment that helped propel the Patriots was a clutch sack of Russell Wilson on 3rd and 7 with about 13 minutes to play. If Ninkovich doesn't get to Wilson, maybe he scrambles for a first down or finds a receiver, prolongs the drive, and New England doesn't have the time to score two touchdowns. While he had a quiet game on the score sheet, with only two assisted tackles on 27 defensive plays, Ninkovich's pressure of Matt Ryan in Super Bowl LI helped force him out of the pocket and into the arms of guys like Trey Flowers and Kyle Van Noy who would end up getting credited with the sacks. Ninkovich also had a nose for the ball. His true coming-out party was his two-interception performance against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football in 2010. But one of the plays that showed how he'd always be around the ball and would play until the whistle was a loose ball against the Chargers in 2010 that every other player stopped going after because they assumed it was an incomplete pass, but Ninkovich slid over, scooped the ball up, and ran it down inside San Diego's 10-yard-line. He was a hustle player and a throwback and I'm glad he was able to call it a career on his terms, with two well-deserved Super Bowl rings.

Another one bites the dust. LT Ryan Clady announced his retirement today. That CTE study has (understandably) got a lot of folks spooked.

According to ESPN, both Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and GM Ozzie Newsome want to sign Kaepernick but the owner is dragging his heels about it because he's a coward. This is also apparently not the first time that the football people have wanted to sign Kaepernick only to meet resistance from the owner not wanting to alienate people over his protests.
At least we can drop the pretense that Kaep doesn't have a job due to football reasons. It also goes to show how messed up morality is in football where it's fine to sign dog killers, woman-beaters, and suspected rapists, but a guy kneeling during the national anthem? That crosses the line!

I do believe it's 75% Kap being a "rebel" and the other 25% of is his head really in football. In fairness to the owners if I was one of them I would call Kap and ask him are you really interested in continuing a football career than we would love to have you but I need to know what you have done in the offseason to keep yourself in shape. For all intents and purposes when he went to Seattle their wasn't anything reported about him being out of shape.

That crosses the line! It's the same thing as Tim Tebow. Owners do not want a guy who they think will be a "distraction". I personally think Kaep would be perfect with the Ravens even though I hate the guy. Biscotti needs to sign him before the Colts get desperate and sign him because they will need a QB to fill in for Luck for a little while.

It's not the same as Tebow because Kaepernick was still putting up good numbers while Tebow was mostly a mediocre-at-best QB who had a good game here and there and also benefited from an extremely good defense that eventually was able to carry Peyton Manning to two Super Bowls, winning one of them where he could barely throw the ball. And unlike Kaep, Tebow continued to get opportunities and just couldn't cut it whether it's being in the Jets clusterf*** or getting cut from preseason rosters. And to this day, I think if Tebow really was the real deal at QB, he'd still be in the NFL instead of the Mets' publicity stunt to distract from their terrible season. Because there are a lot of openly religious dudes in the NFL and there'd be a lot of people out of jobs if the owners were scared of signing anyone being overly religious.
Tebow also got opportunities outside of football, not even counting baseball. He got a gig with ABC and ESPN as an analyst and then got brought into the SEC Network. Because if Tebow is anything, he's charismatic and pretty damn good in front of a camera. Somehow I don't see similar offers being given to Kaepernick.
Until Kaepernick, I really did believe that the NFL was entirely meritocratic. You could be the scum of the earth but if you had talent, you could land a job. But the thing that keeps you from getting a job, regardless of talent, is apparently being an outspoken black man that says things that makes white people uncomfortable.

I think when you have two bad years that follow a completely disappointing year and want starting QB money while on a good team (basically opting out because you expect a market for you, despite knowing that the bad teams aren't gonna take you because they are idiots and the good teams won't take you because they have a starting QB), you don't get my sympathy in any way.

In regards to Tebow I think if he wanted to be a "football player" and not just a QB he would still be in the league but as you said he still had stuff to lean on. In regards to Kap putting up "good numbers" I disagree with that because he's clearly not been the same player since the SB year but things such as lesser talent and not having a defense to lean on plays into that. He's good enough to be a backup in the league and have a chance at earning a starting job because their is still something there but yes I am behind the line of thinking Kapernick is getting blacklisted somewhat even tho he said some pretty stupid shit during the season I can't get into because of the rules.
